I just found a video for what is supposedly Baldur's Gate on the Playstation. The guy who uploaded the video claims he is the owner of the "only working copy." I wasn't sure if anyone else has seen this, so here it is: (start)http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3801927136016826071 (ingame)http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6741999471238265281
Sweet. I really hopped for that game to come out on the PSX. It really would have been popular. Also, it would've taken up like 5+CDs, right? I'm actually suprised to see a video of the actual game for I could never find it on Gamespots website. Was Black and White for the PSX also released?
5 CDs is what I've heard, too. There is a photograph of the case and inserts on Bendict Arnold's website, who I suspect may be the owner. If the owner isn't one of the original developers, I really hate to think of what this cost them... I don't know about Black and White, since I've never played the game. I'm a huge Baldur's Gate nut, so that's why I'm so interested in the prototype.
Yeah, this is real. Some website (Playstation museum or something?) has a price value of $10,000 on this game, so the dude is convinced that his game is worth $10,000, and is basically sitting on it until he gets that much. His ass is going to get real sore.
Anyone who like Baldurs Gate may like this link...164 gig's of BG development, enjoy... http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=163764#post163764
I think 5 CDs is a bit too much. If there is a version of Baldur's Gate for the GBA (in a 64Mbit cart, mind you), the game could easily fit one single CD. Of course, unless the developers wanted high res graphics, dolby surround audio and a VERY lenghty game. But, still, Diablo fits in 1 CD, so I can't see why BG couldn't. Anyway, $10,000 for a game, ANY game, is a joke. Especially BG. It's not that the game is bad or anything, but come on.
From what I understand, Baldur's Gate on GBA is incredibly dumbed-down. If they were trying to port the PC version to the PS1 with extra stuff and such, 5 CDs sounds about right.
There is a GBA port of Baldur's Gate? Where have I been? Edit: If you guys are talking about Dark Alliance, then nevermind.
Why is it even important how many discs a game was supposed to come on? I never understood why people even cared about this. It's not like it's a testament to how great the game would have been.
To me, all the disc count means is part of the technical details about how they've handled the port job. It basicly tells a little *depending on what type of game it is* what to expect from it too (contents wise)
