I just got my hands on an almost new, fully packed with booklet, and a jewel case (that hasnt gone yellow) copy of Super Mario Land 2. As I am in the UK now only recently, I had never seen a classic gameboy's gamebox (UK version) since I lived elsewhere. At the back of the box and the manual, it has the bandai logo. Is this the case for ALL classic gameboy titles? All Super Mario Land 2s?Or have I got a "lucky" early version in perfect condition for next to nothing? I am aware that Nintendo had BANDAI to do some things in the european marketplace, but I would be interested to know the actual extent and involvment of BANDAI and which year that stopped, if someone could kindly say.
Bandai used to handle Nintendo's European distribution (both hardware and software) back in 1990, if I remember correctly. This was around the same time that Mattel were the US distributor. For some reason this deal ended in 1993. I heard that Nintendo and Bandai had a disagreement and one of them pulled the plug - not sure which - and from that point Nintendo began to handle their own distribution.
Sorry not that i know much about nintendo as i wasnt a big fan but dint someone else handle distribution in the uk at least up to n64 years. I could swear i remember all nintendo fans bitching at someone who wasnt nintendo about their situation here.
