I have been wondering if the Bandai Wonderswan is enjoying any kind of success. I have been doing some research on the Wonderswan, and I know that since it deabuted there have been three systems, Wonderswan, Wonderswan Color, and Wonderswan Swancrystal, and some popular big name companies making games for the system, Square Enix, Namco, Sega/Sammy, Bandai, etc. So, how is the Wonderswan doing? :smt017
. if I'm not mistaken Bandai is pulling out of handheld market and ceased any support for Wonderswan although titles in development will be still released... Wonderswan is mono screen. Crystal is revision of colour where the colour screen is actually bigger - which is debatable - and certainly more easy on eyes. I have RX-78 Gundam LE with two Gundam titles but sadly haven't had time to touch since my baby girl's arrival late last year... on top of that I'm getting hammered by missus to get rid of bulk of my collection otherwise she will held garage sale to get rid of 'em! .... xo cheers
Thanx for the info dj898. It is hard to believe that even with all of their support that they still can't compete with Nintendo. I would have to say that they have done better than anyone else so far though.
. it's one for h/c gamers/collectors and most of its games are heavy in Japanese and in B/W. Not that distract though as I found B/W is more than sufficient in many titles. One thing I have major grip with it is the lack of b/l - think GBA but with different LCD screen. It's one of those screen that direct lighting onto its surface makes things worse... with Pokemon GBA-SP I haven't played much with mine and it's now all packed and stored away. Now SONY unveiled PSP as well as Nintendo with DS things certainly look interesting... I'm inclined to PSP although haven't ruled out DS as its touch sensitive 2nd screen and voice recognition can be used for some interesting games... cheers
On more than one occasion the Wonderswan has been outselling the XBOX in Japan. While its true that Bandai are halting support for it, the Wonderwitch community is very strong, so if you are lucky enough to get hold of a kit, running out of games isnt likely to be a problem. I agree to some points about the screen, its much better than the standard GBA screen IMHO, but would have benefited so much with a backlight. I have seen modded one's fitted with an Afterburner kit, and they look pretty good, I may attempt fitting one now I have 2 WonderSwan's. Despite the (occasional) language barrier, I do love the Wonderswan!
Doesnt Swan Crystal have a backlight? Whatever the case, Wonderswan has enough class titles to be worth owning, and it looks so damn badass.
I just recently bought 2 wonderswans from eBay, a Wonderswan and a special edition Gundam Zaku II Wonderswan Color. I wonder if Bandai has plans for another handheld :smt017
competiting with nintendo was tought , but with sony and nintendo its worse....so i dont think they will do something again , sadly....
