Only got a single image of this, but it's fairly self explanatory. My Dreamcast constantly required being opened so I decided to make the connection permanent. Wires aren't too good as I was doing it in the morning so was hasty, guess I'll snip the wires a few mm next time I got my iron out.. Just make sure they don't touch the wrong pin! Cut a small piece out of the PSU shield too. If this helps even one person I'll be happy! http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/4001/dsc0031copy.jpg
I've always thought about applying some flux to the connectors and pins whilst soldering them both together. Though you'd have to remove the solder any time you wanted to take the DC apart.
The power supply makes its electrical connection to the motherboard via six pins on the motherboard. The pins are bent so when the power supply is attached, they spring onto the contacts on the power supply board. Sometimes, they straighten themselves out and fail to make contact with the contacts. It's possible to bend them back into position, but this modification offers the peace of mind that they won't straighten themselves out again while playing a game like PSO.
you could cut up and old broken PC mother bored and old atx psu and harvest the mother bored connector on both the psu and mother bored and then cut both so you have 6 connectors on both the mother bored socket and psu also on the psu harvest the wires and just solder the new 6 in connector to both the dreamcast and the dreamcast-psu that way the psu is still removable and replaceable
That picture doesn't exist anymore I got the Sports one refurbed , light use but it is resetting nonstop ={ Doin the pin bend ..
Just FYI, resetting can also be caused by shorted out motors on the GD drive. If it fully shorts down it will blow the servo driver IC on the GD drive board. Screw DC brush motors. http://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3043 It's the main/worst design flaw the Dreamcast had.
