Battle Mania N.Y. Gankutsujou a.k.a. the third Trouble Shooter

The Battle Mania / Trouble Shooter games are old favorites of mine. They're goofy side-view shooters that play like Forgotten Worlds and look like some explosion-filled comedy anime from the age of Dirty Pair. There are only two games in the series, but the director, Takayan, pitched a third game for the Saturn, PlayStation, and, later on, the Dreamcast.

Hardcore Gaming 101 put up an article with scans of the design docs. They're all from a book that printed the docs really small and in black-and-white, but they show what could have been a neat shooter.

There's also a really bad render of the main character, but hey, it was just a pitch.

I like it too! It's pretty much the only crazy-expensive game I'd consider buying these days.
