WOW My first impression of the game when I played the demo some months back was that this isn't anything special. Then I saw more of it played the demo again...HAD to buy it. I haven't played a game with this much Personality in a long time and the References to everything from Okami to Evangelion to Other Sega games (there's a Space Harrier stage for fucks sake) The Boss battles too.. My only regret is that I played this before I started Dante's inferno cuz I'm only setting myself up for disappointment playing Dante's Inferno now. What do you all think of Bayonetta?
I just started playing this game this week. It's ridiculous, over-the-top, and really entertaining. And I'm only an hour in.
Played, finished and found all in Bayonetta. Fantastic game full of some of the best combo strings found in a none 1 on 1 fighter. Blows away the likes of DMC even if it does borrow from it. Yakumo
Share the love. When I 1st played it I had an inkling it could hit my personal all time top 10 games. Top 3 more like! Phenomenal. Aside from the GoW 2 Valentine's event and a quick DI / DMC session for comparison (and actually since yesterday when I forced myself to take a break from it and finally get that rank 100 on GoW2) it's all I've played this year. One of those games the more you play, the more you enjoy. While the 1st play through is stunning, it's the subsequent run throughs where it really shines. Once you buy more accessories, have more weapon combos to test out, it comes into its own. Add in all the hidden unlocks, the Lost Chapter, the extra characters, speed runs, challenges, a hardcore hidden boss, gorgeous graphics, perfect soundtrack, the eye to detail throughout (how great is the 'extras' gallery!), all the gaming / culture references / in jokes, a ridiculously good ending, sublimely tight and responsive controls, and the overall stunning presentation and eye for detail throughout...it's a complete winner. In fact the only downer I have is something the OP alludes to, namely that it has really spoilt the genre for me now as nothing comes close. DMC (yes it borrows from it Yakumo but what do you expect when Kamiya is behind both), GoW (Kratos not Marcus), DI etc, all crap by comparison. Truly imo.
The Bike Sequence is my favorite part. As far as favorite cut scenes "Bust a Cap in yo ass" and when Luka says "OH FUCK ME" (Chopper goes boom) There is going to be a sequel too, Here's hoping for a playable Rodin. also off the top of my head I can't think of a more Likable Female Protagonist than Bayonetta either.
Interesting. I have to be honest I thought the bike sequence was average. In fact all the non-cqc bits were average for me (homages aside), but only as the close up fighting is so superbly executed. Ch15 V8 was poor imo. I'm only nitpicking, and that's relative to how great the game is anyway. Has a sequel been confirmed then? All I've really read is Kamiya saying "obviously have love for the work we have created, so I don’t see anything wrong with Bayonetta 2. Personally, I’d like to approach the world of Bayonetta from a different angle, in the form of a spin-off". You know, spin-off, hmm. From the angel side maybe? Needs Bayo imo. It's not as if Kamiya is known for sequels anyway. The game is so good why the need for one?
I played the japanese demo last year. I've wanted it ever since. This game is nothing short of brilliant.
I just beat it and even after that long ass ending that just kept going...and going...and going and going. I want more. Can the game be improved? Yeah I think so, If they take puzzles out in the sequel and just give us waves of angels to beat the shit out of I'd be happy Toss in playing as Jeanne and Rodin and maybe some Okami drawing powers and the sequel could be greatness. Oh...and an obscured view of Bayonetta's Breasts You can ALMOST see them in that long ass dance video that ends the ending. Luka can come back but I don't ever want to see Enzo again....EVER
Yeah I did see she's unlockable after the fact. But Rodin being playable would still be awesome. Also with the Evangelion references how about Bayonetta turning her hair into a mech for a Virtual On Homage? Who knows...maybe Bayonetta 2 will have Natal/Arc support...on 2nd thought maybe not.
