OT: I've been a fan of somethingawful since '99-'00, but never really got around to paying to join the forums. Is it worth it? I would hope for $10 it would be some pretty high caliber discussion, but I can't really tell since I don't think I can see all of the forums/topics without registering.

Anyone on here have an account?

Paying for a forum account?? That's the first time I've ever heard of that.

    Anyway, great link spot778!

I think it was around '02, their bandwidth bill became so outrageous that instead of using popups or ads, they started charging to register on the forums. I believe it also had the intended effect of weeding out trolls and people who shouldn't be on there. Good idea IMO.

Looks like im the only one that finds that a bit cruel. There are other ways to get rid of bees without resorting to the 10 megaton fireball method.

If they had done that in the UK they would have been given a very hefty fine as honeybees are protected in the UK (^_^)

If they had been wasps then id have been cheering them on as i hate wasps they provide nothing. At least bees make honey.

$10 will let you browse around and post, but you can't search or put up an avatar. As long as you don't mind the "Stupid Newbie" thing, then I think it's worth it. I'm usually in TCC and GBS.

Bees are protected in the UK?! Is this a fact or something you made up? ;-)

Red necks shouldn't be allowed near flamable chemicals.

    Nope its true.

    http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Environment/Pests_and_nuisance/index.asp

Honey bees are protected and under normal circumstances cannot be destroyed. If you think you have a honeybees nest, contact Merseyside Police, who will arrange for a bee keeper to visit and remove it. There is a charge for the treatment of wasps, bees (not honeybees) and ants, please check with Liverpool Direct for current rates

You don't have to be a memeber to view the forums as I'm certainly not. I think it says something like it takes the ads away or something.

Whole reason I posted this was the writing, that guy is just genius !

You have to continuously clear your cookies if you want to truely browse it because your "free trial" will expire after X amount of views.

Not sure whether to put my $10 towards an account, or towards a new PSP.
