It seems that Bomberman is going to be taking his orders from Solid Snake fron now on as Konami is buying a majority control of the company. Perhaps it's a good thing and hudson will blossom again, but more likely it will be stripped of it's valuable patents, franchises and then closed down. Read more:
Im not suprised, after all hudson doesnt has had its U.S. subsidiary closed for..........cant seem to remember when it did close actually. Still im guessing that they will most likely use there developers to help them finish other projects, such as they used treasure to do gradius v, still this could mean that we would possibly see hudson games released here at a faster rate.
Konami is still one of the reasonably respectable publishers nowadays, so I wouldn't start doom-and-glooming just yet. This is a good shot in the arm for Hudson, who were slowly but inarguably on their way out anyways, so it can only really go up from here. Not all buyouts are bad things.
Their mobile gaming line up looks ok. I wonder who was making descisions at Hudson, all their top brands were cancelled and all we got were every generic genre with Bomberman in it
I thought they were made by HAL not HUDSON. I'm probably wrong though To be honest I'm very surprised Hudson never closed down years ago. To be honest most of their games are standard at best. Probably the last game of theirs that really got my attention was VIRUS on the Saturn. That was a very nice Cyber Punk RPG with some really nice use of mixing CG with Anime. I'm sure the art was designed buy the same guy who designed Bubblegum Crisis (The originals, not the 2000 shite) since some of the enemies look shockingly like Boomers or Voomer as they're called in the dubbed version. Heh, I found out Hudson was a member of the Konami group already, looks like they were in desperate need of a company which could restructure their business.
Hudson was already 1/3 owned by konami. Konami is just buying the remaining shares to get full controll. I actualy think this is the best thing for hudson (and from what I have read, it looks like hudson went to konami to help them out). I just wonder if hudson will continue to do development hardware. Plus I hope konami is going to be willing to dig into the hudson IP valt and pull out some classics (like Milon & bonk for christ sake).
yeah i know. A small attempt to pull out some games from their series. How come no bonk on the GBA? The place it would be suitable.
well, it's not like konami was the big fat boy who eats everything, i think it's a good news since i like both konami and hudson...though i hated all those mario spin-offs
I wish some of those current remakes - like Bonk and Adventure Island - would make their way to the 'states on the Gamecube. An idea that I hope Konami/Hudson will look into would be a Bonk collection - the first three games, maybe with some updated 2D graphics (or not, either way is fine) released on GBA or DS. I'd certainly buy it. And an Air Zonk reissue would be awesome as well. :-D
I was going to say the exact same thing. At least it's not EA. Hudson will probably make better games with Konami help.
now that would be nice. I first though Bulk Slash was pretty crap but once you get in to it, it turns out to be a very addictive shooter/slasher game. Sort of like Virtual On mixed with Outriggers in a way. Yakumo
I just hope this means we finally get a US release of the Tengai Makyou series. Hell, I would be happy if Konami just ported oriental blue.
