Theres a guy called ben heck at http://benheck.com/ that does some incredible case mods for just about every system you can imagine heres his xbox360 laptop yes that really is an xbox360 converted into a laptop !
Just get a 42" LCD TV, a standard Xbox 360, 20 gallons of petrol, an electrical generator and a pick-up truck to throw it all into the back of and you are good to go with a mobile 360 device. That 360 laptop is a great piece of modding. Not news here, but always nice to see it.
Awesome! wait, is the same ben heckerdon from 2000? I've been following this guy's projects for a long time, the best ones IMO being: The beerbox PC The first PSp The Portable PS2 The Atari and Apple Laptops The X360 Laptop which doesnt RLODs. Why he didnt make a portable Dreamcast, SCD (using a CDX) or GC I'll never understand.
He's a neat and funny guy. I met him in person earlier this year, along with some friends. He is getting much better recently. My main beef with his older portables was that since he used a CNC router with sheets of acrylic there were right angles in all his designs. But he does have the advantage of better case build quality. I prefer vacuum forming myself - made a N64 portable and atari portable. But 0.080" styrene can't compete with routed aluminum sheets. I've considered making a 360 laptop but I'd have to figure out another method for that kind of case.
Of all the portable mods I've seen him do, I think the Xbox 360 laptop is probably the coolest and one I'd want most. The only other portable I'd find as interesting/useful would be a SNES portable. Shame that there never was a nice official SNES portable.
I would like to make a smaller X360 in cool metal case (like the one from the Xenon proto) and with water cooling so it wont RLOD every week...
