Hey beautiful people, I had a couple of friends over some gamers and some not and we had a great time playing Virtual Tennis 4, Smash Bros, Wii Party Tekken 6 Bomberman (The 5 player one '93?) and New Super Mario Bros I was wondering what your thoughts are on definitive 4 player games on the latest generation of consoles are?
On top of the ones stated, I'd throw Mario Kart into the ring. As it's the last generation, Mario Kart Wii is perfectly playable (albeit feels a bit off after playing Double Dash for so long). PS: 4-player New Super Mario Bros when you get to World 4 onwards is like pulling teeth what with all the bouncing off each other. Insanely frustrating.
I hate to say it, but Wii Sports? Not the best of games but there's some fun stuff in there you can pass the controller about when you have friends over.
TMNT Arcade games on XBLA, X-Men Arcade game on XBLA, is The Simpsons on XBLA? Is there classic Bomberman? You could play the original Perfect Dark on XBLA too.
The Twisted Metal games are a ton of fun with four players. The LittleBigPlanet games are also loads of fun. You Don't Know Jack is one of my favorite party games, and Chu Chu Rocket is also a very fun one. Another obvious choice would be Goldeneye for the N64.
Good choices, but don't think there are good versions of those for the latest generation of consoles, which is what the OP was enquiring about.
If you can: Super Bomberman (any) - SNES Super Mario Kart - SNES Goldeneye 007 - Nintendo 64 Crash Team Racing - PS1 Guardian Heroes - Saturn X-Men / TMNT / Simpsons - Arcade / PSN / XBLA
I wish I had 9 friends for some Saturn Bomber man epicness. You know what is a really underrated game due to it's weeaboo appeal? Battle Stadium DON. Great Smash Bros Clone. Dream Mix TV isn't too bad either, Only game where Optimus Prime can beat the shit out of Simon Belmont besides Mugen
Power Stone 2 X-Men/Simpsons Arcade Marvel vs. Capcom (Dreamcast, Cross Fever) Conker's Bad Fur Day Bomberman in general Is the original NBA Jam a 4P game? I always played the Genesis version 2P, but it would be cool to have each player on the screen be controlled by someone.
PlayStation 3: Worms (via PlayStation Network Store) That shit just never gets old. You can 4 player with just the one controller too, so long as you rememebr which colour / team is yours and pass the pad along. Some of my mates have really sweaty hands though so it can be a good idea to wipe it down first... but then the clock is ticking and you want to move to whup their ass you dont always get the time. Or you could just give the sweaty guy their own pad and pass the dry one around the other folks. Or have 4 pads PlayStation 3: PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap (via PlayStation Network Store) My friends and I were big fans of Micro Machines back in the day, this is kind of the next best thing. It isn't quite the same as it is more of a Scalextrix type of game, but it is pretty fun and challenging regardless, plus it supports more than 4 players so you can get the crazy old aunt involved too.
