hi, i work on photshop pro 8 for a projects and i was wondering what was the best type of image ( jpeg, ...) for the highest quality possible. and which one is the best for good quality and good weight? thx.
thx for the info. but i've saved my projects in psp , ill change it at the end. does the psp format is good for quality ''keeping?'' and does the png is the best for quality or for an overall quality/weight ?
psp is always pixelperfect quality. it also keeps all the different layers with all their optional settings etc. if a pic is not finished yet, always save it as a psp-file, so you can continue working at the same state you stopped/saved before. after that, it's depends for what you will use it later. internetappearance, email etc = jpg, png etc. is ok. for an animation save it as a *.gif the best and untouched quality from its original you will still get by saving as a BMP. but also it needs the biggest space on your HD.
Ah taht's nice to know. I was under the impression PNG was superior to BMP, which is what my capture card captures in (even when the damn thing is set to capture in JPEG).
BMP = bitmap ever pixel on a pic counts its same value, because there is no comtression used. so the resolution only desides how big (in size) a picture is, even there is just a black or white value in it, it doesn't matter! PNG uses a similar kind, but much more advanced compression as the older gif-format, which also is registered by his maker!
I think that PNG isnt a lossy format. I worked with some stuff in PNG and everything seems pixel-perfect.
Png has 2 mode Hi color : with Jpg style compression. Low Color : with gif style compression. If youre making a pic with lots of colors and if you want to keep it perfect, you may use bmp or the photoshop format. For less than 256 colors pics, png is cool.
all this explain why my picture seem to be lowering in quality each time i add details .... i think il'need alot of time to reconstruct my project piece-by-piece each with perfect, origninal, color quality and save everything into bmp format.... i guess ill have work to do! oh, well, i just do this project because i don't really know what to do.. :smt043 sure , thats a fun project ...but... anyway, i'm making a '' Zelda 05 '' fake box-art.. :smt045 (didn't i said that i didn't know what to do? :smt043 its sad that its always raining this summer.... :-( )
Also try the TIFF format, I export to that a lot when I do 3d renderings, and while you can end up with some HUGE file sizes, the quality is unmatched.
PNG is good as each part of the picture has different levels of compression. say if there is a highly detailed part of the pic, it wont compress it much so you keep the detail, but large chunks of the same colour will be highly compressed and you won't be able to tell the difference. BMP is good, but it literally does not compress at all however it gives the best detail but a larger file size.
MMmmm....Dilema, my file is have a really big resolution, and if i keep it in bmp, i fear that ill not be able to find an internet image hosting that will let me host it.. :smt1069
so use a good jpg compression (in photoshop high quality, skala 8~11) or png, after it should be about the 10 times smaller in size
i used this , but i saw alot of bad quality in my picture , i whant it in perfect quality ! better quality = best fake! :-D lol i fear that nothing can be perfect.... perfectquality = too much weight ... low weight = bad quality.... :-(
What exactly are you faking? PNG seems to have semi-large file sizes too. I'm currently trimming down all my images on my site as I've hit the max storage limit (funny how I never bothered to look at the file sizes of the pics as I always thought I had enoguh space.) Seems like the PNGs are almost as large as the BMPs, the only advantage being you can have transparencies.
