Hello everybody. I'm looking or some info about the best method to dump Nintendo 64 ROMs and I think here I can find the right people to solve my problem :) .

I recently could get my hands on a Nintendo 64 prototype cartridge and I'm looking for a method to dump the ROM on my computer. I own a Retrode 2 and I tried using it but it doesn't work properly.
I know it can be used a GameShark with a particular method but I'm a bit worried the GameShark can corrupt or damage the ROM.

What's the best method to dump the ROM? I need just 2 things:
    1) The method must be safe for the prototype and not ruin or damage the ROM chip
    2) I need a perfect dump, no errors or problems, so I should also find a way to verify everything went ok.

I know my requests are too hard to satisfy but I hope someone here has the right solution!
    Thanks again

Marshall the maker of the 64drive has a perfect solution, but it is a bit expensive.

Thank you. I knew about this method but I don't know everything about it. I actually own a Gameshark v 3.2 and I'm afraid of trying the method with this device. Do you know something more about 64drive? Is it safe for the ROM chip?

It should be. I trust marshal’s work. Let’s just say If I had a proto, I would use marshal’s tools to dump it.

I use sanni's cart reader (alot!). its dumps ROM and any save type straight to SD card.

Plus you can write to the chinese n64 repro boards too

Thank you. I've just ordered it because I want the most reliable method ever. I know it's a bit expensive but I can also use it to play ROMs on my N64 so I will not use it just once. From the website it seems to be easy to use.

Thank you. I'm a bit worried because it seems to be hard to realize. I need something pretty easy to use
