Anyone point me to a reasonably priced, Modbo resistant laser for my NTSC-U 70001? I know Stone Age Gamer has "genuine" Sony lasers, but is there a more reliable alternative?
Well thanks for all the helpful replies I went ahead and bought the cheapest I could find, for this money I'll take a chance: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/251295362373?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Anyone done a laser swap on PS2 recently? Is it plug and play or is there calibration involved?
Calibration is stored in the mechacon if i'm not wrog... So, teorically, it should wor without any calibration
Most laser swaps I've done have just been drop in replacements but they're usually original parts as opposed to manufactured in China three weeks ago. I don't trust those (spent about $75 on lasers for a CDX for a member here to get nowhere).
Hmmm, wasn't the CDX notoriously hard to calibrate even with an official part? I'll admit $6 shipped is ridiculous cheap, but as I said, I can afford to risk that much, and I just like to tinker with things. I'm actually running most games over ethernet using OPL, but I'm throwing a Modbo in the thing just for fun.
Check deal extreme. I've bought several various laser units and had 95% success with them overall. This is including PS1, PS2 and Sega Dreamcast. (The DC needed the spindle lowered though which was kind of a b-tch.
Deal Extreme!? I remember when they had fake Beats and still possibly have this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgLs2IqhPoU
