Just had my N64 rgb modded, have a rgb capable SFC, and a rgb capable Gamecube.
What cable is recommended for the best output, or are there any cable mods to get the best picture quality possible on my Toshiba flatscreen tv???

If your TV has SCART plugs go with that. All 3 consoles should have the same plug on the back so go with the Gamecube RGB SCART cable. I forget if you have to mod it a little bit for SNES and SFC. Probably will have to mod one a bit for the N64 but it will plug right in on the console side assuming you had the RGB wires routed to the blank pins on the original AV connector.

    No GameCube can't output RGB.
There are no pins for it, unless you get a french RGB capable gamecube.

The other way around that is getting the really expensive component cable for the gamecube and modding it for RGB.

This is incorrect. All PAL cubes have RGB on the analog port.

Exactly. Guess I should have said to make sure and get the PAL Gamecube SCART cable to prevent confusion. It'll have the RGB ready to go.

    Interesting.

Does the identification code changes from NTSC to PAL? It would be great to know what we should looking for on ebay to get an RGB cube.

Bottom is easiest like bad_ad says.

The game compatibility differences most users won't notice. They affect imports. PAL cubes add a language select menu, but removed Japanese.

Fuck yeah europe. thats why it looks so good with my scart, altough some scan lines are visible in 60hz, but im sure a better cable would fix that.

I personally would stick with a NTSC GameCube. IMO 480p over component would look better than 480i over RGB SCART.

I suppose. This most impacts niche users. People who insist on the best experience from an SD NTSC CRT have little choice but a component cable.
RGB to component won't work 100% without modding, PAL gamecube defaults to 50hz system menus.

Youd be supprised how good rgb looks on my region free PAL gamecube, with my madcatz RGB Scart, and interfierence stopping settings on high.
    It looks fab.
    especially in 60hz

I'm not saying RGB looks bad at all, just that it's hard to go past a progressive signal.

Im a videophile myself, but rgb 576i and 480p look different really close up, but from a metre or two away, the average distance of where you play your games, the difference is unnoticable.

What? First of all 576i is 50Hz and thus some game will likely run slower and with black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Never use 50Hz (567i/p) if your games support 60Hz (480i/p). I live in Europe myself and have been born and raised with 50Hz, and I can't stand that shit anymore. I avoid 50Hz only games like the plague and buy them in US or JAP instead.

Second, there is a huge difference between interlaced and progressive. Your modern day TV will most likely do a real shitty job of deinterlacing the 480i/576i signal, meaning that it will look softer, or even worse, show deinterlacing artifacts like horizontal lines in a fast moving image (these are not scanlines). Furthermore deinterlacing is a process that takes additional time, taking longer for the TV to display the image on the screen. And you want as little lag on the screen as possible for gaming.

All the deinterlacing stuff still applies to 480i :)
