I'm personally designing my own switcher system because i've given up on repurposing KVM's chaining switchboxes, receivers, and the like... 20+ devices- there's just no good aftermarket method. at least if you make it yourself, you can add your own features.
I also agree with the people suggesting to build your own AV switcher. http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/13/how-to-make-a-solid-state-a-v-switcher/ ^Great article and with a little planning and creativity I'm sure you can make something pretty kickass that we'll fit your needs.
that article was where I started, but I've changed the design substantially.. a suggestion for those looking to build your own... add extra switched lines that act as mode switches such that "for this input, turn on component to rgb" or "for this audio channel, convert analog to digital" etc, then add post-processing via addon modules (over the counter converters) AFTER you do the bank switching.
does anyone know if this same technique works for component or S Video? edit: nevermind, the link states you can Edit 2: I'm curious though, can you have component/composite in ONE switch box? have it hooked up to both inputs on the TV?
Sure, why not? My Pelican System Selector Pro (8 inputs, pops up on ebay every once in a while) has component, S-Video and composite hooked up simultaneously.
I have another question, so say I make a switch with Svid, composite, component, on all inputs. now, the new CRT I got is fucktarded. Input 1 is composite. Input 2 is - composite, component, Svideo. so say I hook 3 my NES through composite, SNES through Svid, Xbox through component. and hook ALL those from the output of the box into the Input 2 on this TV. That'll work right?
On a similar related topic: how about power strips for your many consoles, does anyone know any good ones with a lot of transformer outlets? Those seem to be rare.
If you have an xbox1 hooked up - couldn't you use that to emulate at least a couple of those consoles?
While this isn't the same thing I have here at home, I have something similar to this for my gaming setup: http://www.homedepot.com/Electrical...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 Fits nicely behinds the entertainment stands and handles any wall wart you can throw at it.
