I have a few rather rare games that I'd like to buy acrylic cases for, but I don't know the best place I can get them custom made. I know VGA makes them, but they're pretty damn expensive...
I just ordered a custom one from VGA, let's see how it turns out. I guess we could make this a thread comparing the quality and pricing of different cases if anyone wants to.
Don't worry, I'm smart enough to know about that horseshit. They sell cases separately without grading, which is what I bought.
I didn't know either until recently, it's not really something that they advertise a whole lot. Probably so that they can profit more off of their stupid grading shit.
for soft usable protective cases, like you see for n64 games. You can get them on alibaba but bulk only so expect to pay $300 but you could sell them for a good profit and make some money IIRC the VG-crap cases are hard to open and close, makes them more "colleterfull"
Well, I'm going to be putting sealed games inside them, so the VGA cases sound perfect for me. I just wish it didn't take them 4 weeks to make one...
I forgot to post here when I got the case in the mail a while back, but here I am now. I have to say the case is definitely high quality, but it's a bit of a snug fit for Super Marathon despite me overestimating the measurements of the box by a small margin. I would order a VGA case again but I think the price is still quite high in comparison to other custom cases, so I think I'm only going to order VGA ones for the rarer games in my Bungie collection.
You want to make sure the acrylic they use is acid free, not going to break down (due to bad plasticizers) and, if you're displaying it, UV resistant. Acrylic should be acid free... it's acetate that isn't always.
