Sony Wega with component. For Dreamcast you may need a converter or VGA monitor.

a sony pvm if you got the money. if not a sdtv crt. ps2 with component and dreamcast with s video

adjust them accordingly though as the dont look good with same tv settings, took me awhile to find the best display on my jvc 20" crt

once set though they look great, especially psx games with ps2 on 240p

    Sony Bravia 22PX300.

It has a PS2 build in, also plays PS1 and dreamcast can be connected by VGA. Leaving a lot of ports left for many other Consoles.

BTW I selling one in the marketplace :)

With component PS2 looks just fine on HDTV's, especially higher res games. Anything lower grade video needs to be on CRT indeed, like composit, svideo etc.

I keep the CRT's for real retro game stuff, I consider ps2 already HD. You can even force the PS2 games to display in 720p or 1080i.

Personal opinion: PS1 on HDTV, nah. PS2/DC, well, maybe, but I'd still prefer a PVM unless there's games I want to run in a resolution it couldn't handle (e.g. 1080i on some PS2 titles).

That being said, the very best TV is the exact one you had back when, no matter how shitty, because nostalgia :p

I use a Sony Trinitron HD CRT. Later 34" widescreen model. My PS2 is the newest system hooked up to it, 1080i does look really nice. Also 240p works fine on this TV, which is great for component PS1 gaming. I am completely amazed at how good my Genesis looks hooked up to it, since I am using the same shitty composite cable that looks like total ass on my LCD 1080p TV. Somehow, the comb filter or whatever in this TV makes it look a lot closer to the S-video output the SNES is doing on the same TV (which still, looks better than on my LCD). Overall really happy with it.

I have a CRT Sony Trinitron KV 4:3 model (not the Wega model with the component) and it have a beautiful and crispy image (I use it mainly with RGB cables).
    I'm very pleased with it.
From my point of view I think those are the best.

If you want the best of the best and have money to blow get a PVM. I have a Sony PVM-1343MD and a very similar model in 19 inch. (I'm too lazy to move it and look right now) Just keep browsing local Ads because shipping will be a fortune. If you can get one for a decent price, it is totally worth it.

Are those PVMs really much better than a standard Sony KV Trinitron TV? Even if the picture is marginally better, what about the sound? The PVMs were broadcast monitors and not exactly designed to output quality music (cue FF7 soundtrack :)

Well I don't think you can really compare the sound of the two. My Trinitron TV has a subwoofer in it..

Yeah, they tend to leave a lot to be desired in the audio department. My PVM (like, I think, most of them) doesn't even have stereo.
But if you're passing on a PVM because of the sound, something's wrong with you. Simply put a couple bucks towards a standalone sound system to go along with it.
