yes, i love use this CRT,but my VTR only S-Video,so i need use that to S-video->RGB
YR-421 is NTSC ver,YR-1000 is Pal ver.
too much RGB need plug..so i use RGB selecter
    [IMG]

my office no more table put in PVM crt, so use this up-scan to my SONY FW900

XRGB-1 first best up scan , normal NTSC RGB,S-VIDEO,AV, TO 640x480VGA or 15kHzRGB
but it did not full color....6bit x RGB = 18bit
    [IMG]

XRGB-2 final turn up than XRGB-1, normal NTSC RGB,S-VIDEO,AV, TO 640x480VGA or 15kHzRGB
    it a full color....8bit x RGB = 24bit

why no XRGB-2plus? yes i have it,but it not stable on video out put(like snake moving graphic) so i ready put back box and never use it more.

best is SONY DSC-1024HD....it Mutil input to Mutil out but cost like US$3,000

Nice, I used to have a 20" Sony PVM but had to ditch it when I moved. In hindsight, I could have kept it. Now all I have to view 15.75Khz RGB is a 13" Magnavox CGA monitor :( for games I have a Toshiba 20" TV, which is stereo/composite and a 27" Sony Trinitron with S-video. When I get a job I hope to buy a HD Sony BVM w/ video transcoder and an ATSC tuner :D

    Sigh...at scool....it's a 20 inch magnavox with Composite only...

At home...where most of my games are, it's a 30 some inch Sony flat screen on which I try to use component and S-video as much as possible.

At home I use my Sharp 24 inch TV which is ok but nothing great. My Saturn and Dreamcast run on this through S-Video. You've probably seen pictures of it on these boards before. However I do run another Dreamcast through my Mtsubishi 17" Dimoncrysta TFT. THe image on that is amazing !! No blur, no lag, none of the dreaded TFT problems that you hear about. It does have 1 dead pixel though which sines blue when the screen is black :p

Some cool stuff there, Ricky. What's that crazy-looking socket on the back of the NEC monitor for? The one that says "RGB (8P) デジタル" under it? Actually, what are the 9 and 15 pin sockets for as well?

All I have is a 14" Panasonic, and a pretty cheap crappy Panasonic at that. It's got RGB and composite in/out via SCART (same as your 21-pin connectors but with different pin-outs), and RCA comp. in, has PAL60 support (but no NTSC -_-) but besides that it sucks.

The crazy connector is for 8 bit digital RGB like it says ;) The 9 and 15 pin sockets are Japanese computer RGB connectors, the 9 pin I think is just like the western connector and the 15 pin is what the X68K, Marty, (MSX?) all types of old Japanese computers output. See GameSX.

I connect my GC to the monitor with the VGA cable.

But I want an alternative for my nstc N64. I have a VGA box with RCA connections. What's the best vga choice for a ntsc N64? Maybe a vga box with s-video option, or with RGB (I can modify my N64...)

    Any advice for that? Thx.

Not a clue. It apparently was pretty popular though because it's not the first time I've seen 'em.

The XRGB-2 Plus probably. After you modify the unit, you can use a Japanese Super Famicom 21pin (not SCART) RGB connector with the XRGB or you can modify the XRGB for SCART input and use a SCART RGB SNES connector.

    Question of the S-RGB

    Hi Ricky:

I just want to know what is the difference between Sony YR-421 and YR-1000. I have Sony YR-421. It can generate the good graphic quality but compare to pure RGB graphic quality, it seem 15-20 % loss.

Do you know can I still have chance to purchase Sony-YR1000 and how much it costs.

I use my PC Monitor via my ATI All In Wonder video card. It has composite and S-Video input. I use Svideo for all the systems that can output thru that signal.

    YR-421 is NTSC
    YR-1000 is PAL
well,S-video to RGB it ready graphic up 10-20% than you normal s-video in
RGB in is 1:1 to go normal CRT no data lost(but it not mean you can get best graphic,it plan on what level crt you useing) if you want 100%:100% graphic show on you eye's, must use boardcast level CRT

YR-1000 it hard to get band new, used around US$50-US$100
if you want NTSC S-video to RGB or RGB to more turning out RGB.... you can looking on XRGB2 and mod cable(copy R or G or B to go video sync) to 21PIN RGB and use V-hole to make it stable.
