Best way to transfer data from one PS3 to another... IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY!

    That's not how encryption works. HDD encryption keys are supposedly unique per console and extracting them require you hack the console.

    Finally ... SOME 1st gen PAL PS3s use 210-240v PSUs (yes they won't work on 100-127v regions) lol.

    Every Australian unit I've looked at used a variable psu... Iirc the ps3 over here was delayed.
    Or he could just pony up the $60 for shipping, Australia post is expensive but not too bad..

    edit: air mail to japan from here is $98 ish for 6kg

    id email toll and get a quote if you go that rout..

    I said 1st gen PAL units (We know Europe aways get stuff before Australia do, isn't that true ?) so I was implying Europe when I said it.

    But funny enough the unit I saw which had the 220v only PSU was for Hong Kong. It was a CECHE12. Asian units are a little confusing because units sold in regions which were under Britain control are expected to operate on PAL specs (50hz) while being compatible with NTSC-J discs...
