i'm in a very bad situation too.

try to do things you like, make yourself some small "gifts" o things yiou like. try to spend more time doing what you love or wish to.

hope you're not in a situation like mine in which having zero money hunts you everyday with the things you have to pay for, mortgage , an uncertain future and not even a cent to spend for your own gratification....

    Sorry to hear that man,

I'm not in the same situation, I'm still living at home and I wouldn't be able to have my own place for a long time. I've been unemployed my whole life, hopefully things look up soon.

My life fell apart a couple weeks ago. It has been a struggle getting back on track.

Something that really helped pass the time was youtube fart prank videos. Seriously. I'm not one for toilet humor but for some reason they had me laughing like a 12-year-old until my sides hurt.

That, and I discovered/rediscovered a few television shows that helped pass the time. Most notably Penn and Teller's Bullshit and Penn and Teller's "Fool Us".

Oh, and (as you mentioned) Top Gear is back on. So that helped.

A friend of mine, a very successful, intelligent, and interesting guy working in computer engineering - who was sort of a silent mentor to me and always kept me motivated, was recently arrested for doing something absolutely unspeakable and vile. I don't even want to give any details, but he will be going to jail for a very long time if he is convicted, and his life will be OVER. It ruined a couple days for me and kept me from being productive. On the positive note, I am thankful I have not and will not ever make such a choice and thus I have the rest of my life ahead of me to look forward to. Be thankful you are not him.

So... Find a way to feel liberated. Make a change in your life. Try to get out of your current routine a little.

Yep, I believe the "keep active/motive" is the cure here. I'm feeling rather good today, and the past few days. Apart from the annoying heart burn and rest of the fire in my chest and throat I feel good.
    Found I love soldering :)

That's cool you found you like soldering, I keep meaning to get into it but I haven't soldered anything since I was in year 8 (about 13-14) and even then that was just a LED to a sensor and battery pack...

I've also found in the past just buying a crate of beer and having an all night game-a-thon always cheers me up!
