It's time to update and I need some suggestions on a web design software.
I'd like something that has WYSIWYG capability.

Saw a commercial about some internet software made by intuit, it's probably crap, but worth a look. Can never go wrong with the professional stuff.

NVU is a good alternative to Dreamweaver, and its free. Dreamweaver CS4 is nice, has a really cool feature where you can see every file associated with the file your editing in the same window. Good for CSS and crap. Took out alot of table stuff, which I don't use much but had its uses.

If your looking for a web based solution, try Drupal. It honestly amazes me what you can do with it. We're setting it up to run a database system and survey generator.

Loving MailChimp right now, versatile, easy, and free-ish....can't go wrong with it for mail campaigns.

Joomla and WordPress, can't go wrong with those either, established and well built.

Oh, and try NotePad2. Works wonders when editing code and crap.

I'm trying to move into more 3d stuff with Flash, and maybe some database interaction with Flash too.....Flex is looking appealing but that's probably next year....

Kompozer is a good choice, but I think its a bit outdated now....again, free!

    Choices, choices, choices.....

I'd go with Dreamweaver, although I strongly suggest not designing a site in design view. If you need someone to code the website themselves then give me a shout, I'd be more than happy to make one.

Who the hell at Adobe thought it was brilliant idea to have a tool to "draw" out div's. Like that really works! If you wanna do it quick, code view is the only way....if you want to waste time wondering why your div isn't working and is nested halfway across the screen, then design view is your choice LOL

I haven't used design view with Dreamweaver, I just use it for it's code view so I wouldn't really know, I just suggested it since I use it for the code view.

Serif Webplus is what I use for my site.

I don't think there is ever a "best" software. What ever you use, someone will always say they know a better one.

These days you should probably just use a blog CMS like WordPress. Or for less blogginess, find a premade Drupal site/theme thing. Or make one with Dreamweaver.

If you are looking for web development software, Dreamweaver might be your best choice. If you are looking for a CMS, Joomla or Drupal are pretty damn good. But of course, it depends on your needs.

Hire someone if you want anything good.

Dreamweaver is very outdated and bloated for what it can do, and Textmate+Transmit can do what it does and more for much cheaper.

We do this all day long, 5 days a week at work; if you want something nice you'll either pay for it or download a template. For something this small it wouldn't/shouldn't be any more than $1,200.00

Personally, I use 'Aptana'. It's sleek, handy and free, which ticks all the boxes in my books.

In thies days i use only cms for building web pages (Quick&dirty). I look more on SEO. Another option is using jsf and grovvy to build awesome fast pages(use eclipse with plugins), but the question is what you want to build. Nothing is best for all.
