First lets define what a weeb game is. It's something that's very Japanese but doesn't in anyway reflect Japanese culture as a whole. This can be an RPG, or something like Senran Kagura, or any of the 700 shitzillion Anime Licensed games that shatter the Licensed games are crap stigma by actually being fun to play and even good. I guess we can lump games sold at Comiket in to this category as well. I actually have a folder on my PS4 called "Weeb shit" So the choices here PC- Pretty much everything is here including Emulators for old Japanese PCs. Indies are plentiful, a few Animu games, and some Arcade only games are playable with a few tweaks. Switch- RPG Paradise, it's starting to get Touhou games, Some interesting Indies. Most of it's games are Japanese. And you can embarass yourself in public paying Xenoblade 2 with it's boobie characters. 3DS- A little bit of everything, it's portable, tons of games but it's Region locked so you can't play EVERYTHING out of the box. Like it's little brother it's also an RPG heaven. Playstation 4- Tons of everything, RPGs, Touhou games, Indies, Animu shite that is actually well made, Boobie games, Fighters, old arcade games. It's a well rounded choice, but the best? Not sure Switch is good competition. Vita- RPGs RPGs RPGs RPGs Good choice for those and well not much else. So let the battle begin and since this is an appreciation thread as well, let us discuss our favorite weeb games we don't want to be caught playing.
As a weeb, vita As a casual weeb, ps4 As "that guy" you get all the weeb games regardless of platform (Senran Kagura but 3DS, Vita, PS4, PC)
Personally I think "weeb" is a stupid term, and it's just a way to stereotype people. Everyone on this forum is a fan of something or other; why do people need to call other people stupid names just because they like something? And you're applying this term to games that are developed by Japanese companies? That's some weird, reverse reasoning. Does that mean that the Japanese developers themselves are "weebs"? How can you be a wannabe of your own culture?
I'm using it here tongue in Cheek and not as an insult. We're taking it back. But only Weebs can call each other weebs and we don't dare say Weeaboo I clearly defined what a Weeb game is. It's really just a game that extremely Animu in nature. Like I don't know if Yakuza counts as a weeb game, but Akiba Strip does. Metal Gear Solid I wouldn't consider a Weeb game, but Zone of the Enders I might. Definitely Weeb games Onechanbara Senran Kagura Persona Xenoblade Chronicles Akiba Strip Guilty Gear BlazBlue Dragon Quest Arcana Heart Waku Waku 7 Anime Licensed games Might be Weeb games but I'm not sure. Shmups- Some are very "Weeby" like Muchi Muchi Pork, Otomedius, and Trigger Heart others like Raiden, Most of Dodonpachi (MOST the recent one could count) Gradius, R-Type, are not "Weeby" Final Fantasy Zone Of the Enders Yakuza Japanese but I don't count them as Weeb games Dark Souls Metal Gear Mega Man and most old school mascots Nintendo games MOST of Sega's output Most of Koei's Warriors series Gritty Anime Licensed games (IE Berserk, Hokuto no Ken) So really I'm talking about a very specific kind of Japanese game.
I probably should have stated MODERN weeb game platform. I think the PS1 out weeb'd the Saturn though.
PS4 Vita Switch. Vita is great if you want a lot of hidden visual novels and RPGs but PS4 has a lot of smaller RPGs but also shmups and such. Switch is getting a mixof both platforms.
