Im bored, and searchin' teh interweb and decided to make a topic about the best and worst villains in gaming histoty. There are tons of these all over the web, but most are based on popular consoles. >_< Contains Wild arms spoilers for all games in series Now Im gonna think about the best and worst villains (of games I have played and Beaten) together and compare them. Sounds fun, no? Here we go! Best Villain And the winner is....Liquid Snake! You can just sense rage, hatred, and evilness in this character. Not only does he take brother envy to the next level, he tries to kill him, everyone he knows and some other people just so he can still be in "precious" war. What he does to the Cyborg Ninja is one of the coldest, evillest, gruesomest things ever put into one of my games. Runner-up: Volgin Summary: Villains, that are close to real-life, and not just evil kings with magic and shit, must seem eviller. Or Konami hired good villain writers. :-D Worst Villain And the winner is....Beatrice! Vague, confusing, WTF...all describe Beatrice from WA3. I like the old WA where the enemies were, you know, Demons, instead of "alive computer virus type thingamajigs" Boring enemy overall, made no sense, screwed up the original WA1 story near the end. Plan was to recreate Filgaia into another one. Bleh.....! Runner-up: "The encroaching parallel universe thing" Summary: In WA1, we hear the legend of the 1000 year Demon war and how the humans and Elws fought valiantly to kill them, but scar their planet in the process. Later the demons come back one last time and a group of 3 must kill them, again. In WA2, there was no continuity with WA1 and had a weird-ass lame last boss. Also introduced the Dragon mech or whatever. In WA3 they tried to tie together WA1 and WA2, and said the Demons from the "planet" Hades, came from the ancient information highway "Hades". So the "Demons" were simply "alive viruses" or something. Very bad move, and made the series suck storywise. Thats my two cents and I guess a Wild arms lecture as well. :-D
Konami wins both of these for me. Worst: Highrolla Cockamamie from "Metal Gear 2" "Snake's" "Revenge". The silly FirePro Wrestling treatment of Ayatollah Khomeini makes everyone laugh derisively, and he's in a crappy game to boot. Runner-up goes to the double steps on DDR. Best: Dracula. Because really, what is a man? A miserable pile of secrets. But enough talk, have at you!
Worst villains for videogames? Bernie Stolar and Jack Tramiel. Oh, wait, you mean like... Characters? The coolest villains have to be Kefka, Sephiroth, Liquid Snake, Luca from Suikoden, and, of course, Magus. I'd also say Ultimecia, though, since she's pretty cool because FF8 SPOILER: She's actually Rinoa).
Dodongo, the dinosaur dude from Zelda EDIT: before people point it out, dodongos not really a villain. But hes damn cool none-the-less
eheh for the best villain...... kefka from FFVI (check my quote) for the worst.... yu-yevon or how that's spelled...
Yu Yevon was a big pile of confusing, dabbled with boring... BTW, I hate most of the bosses from some of the FF games, becasue they arent a presence throughout the entire game. Like Necron from FF9, Where in the hell did he come from?!
Best villan: 2D: Kefka (He had alot of personality, and was closer to being insane then plain out evil) 3D: Sephiroth (truly one of the more interesting villans ever conceived) Worst villan: 2D: Fire (Burning Rangers - it was really your only enemy) 3D: Shadow, the final destroyer (D2 for dreamcast. I'd explain why he sucks so much, but that would be too spoiler-intensive).
:smt043:smt043 almost forgot dodongo, cool boss indeed. :-D or what about that four head dragon in the 7th level (if i remember right)?:-D as for the vilains, i like kefka alot. or what about garland? that little dude in the first dungeon of ff1 that transforms itself in chaos at the very end of the game? sad he isn't though as the last boss, 'cause he's damn cool.
Yeah! Melfice was SO cool! And the whole story about how he became the villain and all that happened in their village, too, that was great. The villains in Grandia 2 are actually quite villainous, now that I remember it. Selene and her way to "purify" villages, and then, The last one especially (whose name I will not say not to spoil anyone's playthrough).
Yeah, that game was quite a shock if you ask me. I don't know about you, but I was surprised when I found out who the real villain was, and yes Selene was downright mean. I remember hating that biotch I also thought the voice acting was done well, especially for an "obscure" title. At the time of its release, FF pretty much over powered anything. Grandia 2 is one of my favorite games, and it's one of the few RPGs that I have played through more than once.
The voice acting thing was what surprised me the most, having played the first Grandia... that one hurt the ears. This one, though, had the cast of Metal Gear Solid. Jennifer Hale is superb, as usual, in the squeaky role (Elena) - like she would be being Emma in MGS2. Yeah, the final villain thing, and the way he lets you know (about the outcome in the apocalyptic battle, remember?) was quite a shocker. This one, I had on PS2 and then bought on Dreamcast - I'm a fan of the series. Too bad about Grandia Xtreme, though. Hey, wasn't 3 coming out soon?
But what about triples? Those are damned awful as well. I think Garland from Final Fantasy has to be one of the best game villains, just because I don't think I've played anything since where a whimpy little supporting cast member turns out to be the ultimate evil by the game's end. And who could forget, "Light Warriors? You impertinant fools! I, Garland, will knock you all down!" :smt043 One of my favorite bosses would have to be Earth Mimicry at the end of Sin & Punishment. Despite being a frantic, shooter-on-rails game, the final battle turns into a twisted parody of Missile Command in which all you care about is making sure Earth Mimicry takes more damage than the Earth proper. Pretty damn frustrating your first few times through. The most evil villain I'd have say was President Shinra on Final Fantasy VII. Sure, Sephiroth was trying to destroy the planet, but he had a (misguided) justification for doing so. President Shinra, on the other hand, was not above sucking the planet dry and performing horrible experiments on people in order to make a profit, and was not above destroying part of Midgar and all the people who lived there just to crush a small rebel group.
True. The reason I chose President Shinra over Rufus though, is that upon President Shinra's death, Rufus was more focused on finding the Promised Land and killing Sephiroth - he did some pretty evil stuff, sure, but they were more means to an end rather than just for the hell of it.
