Interesting. Never was sure why they removed MagiKoopa from the game. Meant we all had to fight over Toad. Bah.

 

I love seeing beta pictures that show stuff that was withdrawn from the game. :smt023

 

I would love seeing an rom surfacing of the beta.... but that will probally never happen :-(

 

I dare say our best bet is for a older game magazine to go out of buisness and sell their prototypes (If they didn't already return them, although I bet anything they did) on a auction site.

thanks for the pics, whats funny is other nintendo made 64 games looked different from the begining, you would be amazed at the difference between the beta and final mario 64 as well as zelda oot, and star fox. Sadly none of these betas will be released to the public as they are locked away at nintendos headquaters in japan. Does anyone rember when a developer on kirby 64 that was doing an interview was holding a prototype cartridge of the game that he said was completely different from the final?I can only imagine how that version was.

Yeah, a leak would be awesome. I'm not a huge Mario Kart fan, but I just love mucking around with beta and unreleased software. :-D

 

Yeh I remember reading about Kirby 64 way back in 97. I remember how it was supposed to be like Mario 64 where you walk around in all directions rather than what the final version came out to be. Maybe that would've been a better kirby game. BUt what I really want is the beta of Mother 64 (aka Earthbound 64).
