Better Dreamcast Linux?

Sorry to bump this old thread.
But what is the state of the Dreamcast hardware support in recent kernels?
For example is the GPU well supported? (fbdev with support for multiple output formats/resolutions, aica audio, mouse/keyboard support, gdrom and ide..)

I know back in the days they started with the 2.4 kernel series which was more complete, also featuring a vmi block driver for example, but these were dropped when they migrated their patches to the 2.6 series.
