You know the type of "mega hardcore" gamer who's always trying to tell everyone how it really is? The ones who act and look like the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons and talk down to anyone with a differing opinion to the middle school-esque fanboy allegiances they've retained into their 30s and 40s?

This is not the modern-day "alpha gamer" who is half-fashion statement, brings their Wii U to class, and might be a pretty cool guy. No, sir. It's something far more pretentious, elitist, and cringe-inducing. As if the anime club at your local college made violent love to the Sonic fanbase with a D&D set and a limited edition bag of Star Wars Cheetos. The end result is something so scary and repulsive that Jeffrey Dahmer would run for the hills.

I forgot they existed, but I recently found a true blue hold-out from another time - the likes of which I haven't seen since 'ought four.

Random scenario: One time, I went into an indie game shop to find some N64 games. Mid-conversation, I made the fatal mistake of saying that PS1 games look "OK" on a PS3 to the shopkeep. A customer completely lost their shit and went on a 5 minute rant to free me of my inferior, mere mortal ways. The emotions were strong in his conviction that a PS2 would do the job better. While he was right in saying that, 1.) who cares? 2.) who in the fuck asked you? 3.) holy shit stfu

They look better if they're not PSN releases that by default have that horrid "smoothing" filter that cant be disabled. PS2 has some better control over how it looks but I have my doubts on image clarity since the PS2's video out has always been garbage.
If I had to make the argument, I'd say it looks better on Bleemcast than others because it somehow becomes a mix between PS1 and N64 which is rather nice to see visually.
Someone doesn't frequently argue online I see.

Know-it-alls never go away and seem to breed faster than most regular folk. Best way to handle them is to say how awesome they are and ask them to autograph the box of that video game you just bought at the store. Usually throws them over the edge.

I made some PSP vs DS videos with Windows Movie Maker in 2006 or so (PSP always won), but we all leave middle school sooner or later.

This just popped into my head outta nowhere the other day. Hadn't seen it in 10 years. I wonder what this guy is doing now

I still use movie maker. Hell I even had to install it recently and now that MS discontinued it you cant use the official installer anymore. My production value is as lazy as I am.

Arguing to be superior or to say something is superior is pointless these days. However, being contrarian is fun because even if it doesn't reflect my real views it still is nice to throw in a perspective nobody wants to hear solely because it only fuels the fire more.

On another note, why the fuck is 1366x768 and 1360x768 resolutions. Why do we need these 6 different pixel columns? Why are there 2 standards for laptop monitors? Why are they both some weird aspect ratio? How did we allow this to happen? Why are people just okay with this?

Movie Maker was pretty convenient, especially for being free. Sure as hell beats having to install professional video editing software like After Effects or Vegas to make simple, stupid things for YouTube.

Contradiction is fun from time to time for the learning experience. Questioning things can make a lot of people become guarded and emotional fast. Even if it's unpleasant, there's always some new trinket of information that can be absorbed from it. On that note, arrogance and smugness often tend to be a shallow veil over deeper insecurities.

Aren't they just deviations from XGA? Some magic hat trick to get a 1024x768 resolution and make it widescreen?

Never saw that one before. r/cringeanarchy and r/iamverysmart can be pretty amusing too
