Contained within runtime.sdat in Beyond Two Souls, once decrypted, it gives an INI file containing a set of options. Such options include cheat enabling and debug mode. There is also a section in the file called BigFile_PS3.dat where you can change a variable contained in it to enable cheat mode. I won't supply this file as it's 2gb for only a 1 byte change.
I cannot take credit for this file but I haven't figured out a simple way to decrypt the file and re-encrypt it. All credit for this goes to a Chinese modder named "Luckystar Chinese" (Luckystar中文) for this file. If I can do so myself I will replace the file.

    Prerequisites
-Access to the HDD to replace the runtime.sdat file
-DO NOT have patch 1.02 installed as it disabled usage of this
    -Hex editor

    Modified runtime.sdat

    Modifying BigFile_PS3.dat
    1) ALWAYS CREATE A BACKUP BEFORE EDITING
    2) In your preferred Hex editor (I use HxD, free and easy) load BigFile_PS3.dat
    3) Search for text string "QDR.Infraworld_Var.BootCheat" (or go to offset 61266 for the exact value to change)
    4) Once located you'll see " = 0" after that string (or you'll have "0" highlighted). Change "0" to "4"
    5) Save it and replace the one on the PS3 HDD with your newly changed one.

The file goes into the game's USRDIR folder to replace the one currently on the HDD installation. This varies on install location but it should be under your GAMES folder or game folder for multiman.
Once replaced, load up the game. Once at the main menu you'll be greeted with nothing except for 4 options: Launch Game, Production Chapters, Prototypes and Menu E3. Push L3 on the P1 controller to bring up the QA Menu. L1 and R1 change pages
Here's what each function does. Divided spoilers according to page number.
Font Zoom Factor - Changes how large to display the QA Menu. 1, 1.5, 2
Pause - Whatever is happening in that instant is paused without the pause menu. Cannot be used everywhere (like the main menu)
    Gameplay Override -
Cheat Mode - Allows you to go to various areas like the Sandbox mode
Display Camera Address - Information about the current camera angle, position, and rotation
Free Camera - Self explanatory. Camera with no restriction. Controls with DPAD and Left/Right analog sticks
    Virtual Camera -
Reset Freecam to ZERO - Resets the freecam position/angle/rotation
    Take Screenshot - Self explanatory
    Enable Dart Messages -
Enable Display FPS - Displays current in-game FPS
    Enable Display OUTOFMEM -

    Pause - Pauses current dialog
Change subtitle language - Changes subtitles. English, French, and None
Change audio language - Changes current language between English and French
Display dialogs IDs - Shows the IS of current spoken dialog or text (may need to check this one more)

Character - Selects current model to alter animations. Varies based on models present in scene. Null selects none.
Pause - Pauses animations (doesn't work on the main menu)
Camera selection - Changes between other cameras present in scene (will have to check this)
Free camera - Like the last free camera
    Take screenshot - Self explanatory

Some of these I need to look over and correct info on but this should cover about everything. And we all know why this game was controversial so don't get too carried away.
I also modified the PARAM.SFO to allow 1080p display options. I can share that file too but it's not as important.

I did. I linked the album in the spoiler named "Image of the QA Menu and Boot screen" http://imgur.com/a/8DsLc

There is one page I forgot which was the E3 one, but there's not too much going on there. I'll have to grab a quick pic of it soon,

Well... looks like I'll have to load up some nice quality ones...

Should I do it in 1080p or keep it at 720p? It has weird issues on the pause screen if its in 1080 as it wasn't programmed to handle that resolution when paused.

Would I have to do this even if I have a genuine PS3 test console?

I've tried to find a QA mode to allow free camera in the debug menu for BTS, but nothing I activate or change seems to make a difference.

    Any help is appreciated.

Retail PS3 works as well assuming it's jailbroken/modded.
As long as you followed the instructions and are NOT using patch 1.02, then it will work.

Ah... I guess I just assumed having a genuine developer test console meant I could do it without having to download or modify anything. There was an article awhile back that said you just needed the console they gave developers to test games with and the game to make the trick work. I could have saved some money just buying a regular modded DEX console, instead of shelling out for the real thing. Well, thank you for your help, and I guess I have some downloading to do.

Some games will only run on DECR (Tool) and not on CECH (Retail) or DECH (Test). That article may still be valid if it was talking about the DECR systems.

As for the game in the topic I'm hoping to share some screens/videos on an earlier build if that doesn't violate any rules.

Understandable. I'm new to all this, so I'll probably stumble before I get it to work with this game and others, and find out how useful a system like this really is, but that's fine.

I'm sure it's late enough that vids of the test build wouldn't raise an eyebrow.

What you might have read is that the game checks the type of system its running on, Take Halo CE Anniversary on the Xbox 360 as an example.
It checks the system its running on so if you run the game on a retail system modded or not it will not give you access to its debug menu unless you edit it to always be active.
On an XDK however the debug menu is enabled without needing to modify anything.

IDK if this game does something like that or if anyone has ever checked sooooo yea.

Releasing info is fair game for anything regardless of age, Releasing the build on the other hand requires it being 4+ years old.
An exception to this is if its a big name title then date doesn't matter as it would bring the wrong kind of attention to our little corner of the interwebz.

Well, I have a genuine debug developers test system, and after switching various options on and off, nothing seems to activate a debug menu in this or any other game I put in. I have a friend with a modified DEX system that he says does have multiman installed, so I'm either going to borrow it to see what I can accomplish, or just download multiman myself and the software needed to get it to do what I want it to do.

As I said it's a possibility that the game could have that check not that it would, Any half competent studio will simply remove the debug functions for the retail build so don't expect menus in every game.

In this case it seems the debug functions are on the disc but not normally accessible to the game thus the need for the mods.
Oh and multiman runs fine on DEX without cfw so you could always just do that, or just install rebug since personally there is no reason to keep a DECH on stock firmware.

I will likely install rebug, then see where that leads me. Like I said in my first post, I'm new to all this, but I'll get a grip on it eventually. Thanks for the advice.

If you have any question on its use feel free to ask over on the PlayStation programming sub forum, Personally I run 4.80 Rebug on my DECHA and it works fantastic, It enables full compatibility with retail stuff so its kinda the perfect PS3.
