I'm heading back to the US for about 6 weeks this summer. I'm going to do a load of freight shipping to resell on eBay while I'm there any maybe the Classic Gaming Expo. I wanted to bring a lot of systems that are too heavy to ship regularly. Any ideas of what to bring? Here are the types of systems I was thinking of. Sharp Famicom TVs Sharp Famicom Boxes Any hotel units Sony PS2 Tools x68000 Dreamcast CX-1 Sega Teradrive Fujitsu FM Towns consoles Older PCs, NEC 8001, etc Anything else you can think of that might be in demand? Anything else normall too expensive to ship?
A couple of Bemani units, straight from the arcade? ;-) I might be interested in something like a Bandai Pippin +software/accessories, if it didn't get too expensive. Don't know if there's huge demand for such things, though. Oh, whilst not particulary expensive to ship (just damned expensive), if you can get your mitts on Space Invaders for the Virtual Boy, you'd probably be getting some of the contents of my wallet.
Neogeo CDZ Neo Geo CD ROMROM AMP Virtual Cushion Arcade Boards DIVERS LASERACTIVE etc. You're going to get hit on shipping, big time. The air carriers are very strict now over the 70lb limit. However, I would call ahead and ask if they have a special rate for over two suitcases. Tell them you're a scientist or programmer or similar.
Everyone seems to want an x68000 but the shipping puts them off... I'll bring a few of those. The shipment will be big, via freight, so it's not really meant for regular items althought I'll pack in some of those as well. A CDZ costs $61 to ship, a FamicomBox costs $331....
Yeah, but you can get them for $30 in Japan and sell them in the USA for $$$$ And just try to ship a virtual cushion or rom rom amp, it would cost you a fortune.
It's like a giant sound amplifier that sits under a pcengine "suitcase" http://www6.airnet.ne.jp/wataru/pce/op_av.htm It's really big ^_^
Rom rom, sure. Mine cost me a bit to ship I guess, but it was so cheap to buy it didn't matter. And tbh it really isn't as heavy as it looks. But as I said the VC is extremely light. Could fetch nice $$$ but its not an issue to get one shipped from Japan. ($40-45 to the UK)
heh yeah I'm getting the idea that some people are looking at it from a different point of view than I am. I was thinking about things like TVs, metal hotel units, etc. Items that are in the $200-$400 range each for EMS shipping, or items that exceed the maximum allowable size for international post. I have some good products in mind already, but I was wondering if people had anything else in mind. Since I can go as big as possible I thought there would be some unique ideas.
Some of the bulky pce items..the sharp x-1 twin, and the pc-kd863g both weigh a lot. Towns PCs too. And the Marty TC Station weighs a fair bit when fully boxed with software briefcase.
I would like a Japanese Dreamcast pod.... I'm serious...if it's feasible....there's one in here (well was 2 years ago) http://www.bigfeartie.com/tokyo/scaled_DSCN1013.JPG I'm taking a US Pod to UK whenever I return...... I have 3 UK pods back in UK...(still looking for mint 'blue' UK Pod).
lol.....I prefer to think of my condition as close to the edge.....(cue Roundabout in your head if your old)..... I was thinking of ways to get that huge Dreamcast display unit in Texas (the big shop one that's been on ebay for years...not on at the moment tho)...but I can't really hide that from my wife...ho.hum...... I guess this means that's it's a 'no' for shipping a Japanese DC pod...booooo! (bet you thought about it for 2 secs tho.....)
I wouldn't exactly go nuts brining giant things like hotel boxes and TVs... Though shipping is real expensive, the kind of person who buys that sort of thing is probably willing to plunk down the cash to ship it...which is very few people. Everybody is suggesting consoles and such...because that's what most people want. I'd follow the advice and go for consoles that cost a ton to ship, ie: Marty and X6800, and other big clunk things that are new and fun to most people...
