http://gameman.loungespot.com/play/index.html Has anybody seen this yet? The gameboy on a big screen is not a big deal but the cartridges are freaking cool. Especially the high-quality labels on them.
He says that the cartridges are fully working so I wonder how on earth they work? Could it just be a normal GB cartridge inside that big case or did he actually make massive circuit boards Yakumo
I recall a Belgian comic book where they tried to make a GameBoy from a refridgerator and beer kegs... Weird stuff that. ;p
I think he just Enlarged the Connectors, It would cost way too much to remake the enitre cartrige in super-size format, and you wouldn't see any difference. Btw, thanks for the link, i never saw this before!
its a p200 system in there i believe....maybe the cartridges are ISA....lol....who knows...but damm cool though
It seems that the carts are just solid lumps of wood. However, in the cart slot there are 4 buttons. The carts are different to each other in that they can either press down/ not press on the buttons to load the game. For instance, Mario may press button 1, and Zelda button 2. He's rigged it so VisualBoy Advance auto loads the game Rom, depending on what buttons are pressed. Impressive.
So that's how it works? I was really wondering. That's a pretty cool setup, but would it be possible to add more games in the future?
hahaha this is brilliant, also an really good replica of the gb! quality stuff thats for sure. Also the part of the cartridges.. sometimes the solutions are so easy.. but to actually invent them can be a thoughy.
I make it that you could have 14 different games using all the possible combinations of the 4 buttons. Add an extra button, and that number increases to a more reasonable amount (about 30ish, can't be arsed to work it out).
With four buttons, each with 2 states, there is 2^4 combinations, 16 With five its 2^5, 32 You've gotta love binary....
