This will be the companion to the Best of 2015 thread I made. Biggest disappointments in gaming of 2015. Fallout 4 being more of an FPS than an RPG? Star Wars Battlefront's lack of content? Batman: Arkham Knight's god-awful PC port? Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5? Let us hear it!
Mad Max - Starts off well, but then you realize there's dozens of hours of doing the exact same things over and over. I mean, it captures the look and feel of the movies, but it's just so boring! Why would a company rip off Ubisoft's sandbox formula when even Ubisoft's been oversaturating that market? Guitar Hero and Rock Band, whatever the new ones were called - Rock Band's on-disc song list is pretty damn weak compared to the previous three, which is somehow understandable without EA and MTV cash. Of course, it's commendable that you could use your old DLC songs, but considering how there's barely any new features to entice you into buying, you could just keep playing your last gen game. Guitar Hero fared even worse with its microtransaction-ridden gameplay and a big pre-release middle finger in the form of not supporting old instruments. I'm sure retailers will be happy with more of these huge instrument bundles cluttering up shelves. Also, haven't played it myself, but some Wii U-owning friends have said Xenoblade Chronicles X is pretty shit compared to the original.
Luckily there's a mod that helps fix this a bit, but I agree. It should have retained 3's dialogue options off the bat. Ahh, I haven't made it that far in. That's a little disappointing. I'll try to get as much enjoyment out of it that I can.
Eh, if they paid zero attention to anything leading up to the release and expected a heavily story driven JRPG like the original I could see it. But if you go into it expecting the story to be an after thought to the world/exploration/combat (which is what Takahashi said...) then no, XCX is pretty great. As for my disappointments: 1. Halo 5 2. Yoshi's Wooly World 'sall I got.
- Apple Watch & iPad Pro - Not being able to buy a Raspberry Pi Zero (I refuse to overpay or splurge on a bundle) - Real hoverboards still not quite existing or being practical. - The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes (why does this thing exist?) - Any hope of Android App support on Windows 10 phone is now dashed
Got windows 10 as my main os on two pc's. I liked windows 8 (true). Since 2005 I have been running alpha/beta releases of windows so I had a really clear idea of what 10 would be like. It's the perfect mix of win7 and win8. Truly the best of both worlds. Also run osx and linux, but that's irrelevant. How could you be dissapointed with the iwatch? Have you seen the samsung gear? Or the moto watch? I mean Apple never does anything original they just improve upon what's already out there. And they always have last years specs on their stuff so considering this I don't understand how you could be disappointed. Hopes and expectations, black holes and revelations. Not trying to bash apple, if the market wasn't so ms oriented I would've switched to mac as my main a long time ago. I'm disappointed with Fallout 4 too though, haven't actually played it and I don't want to because the visuals look exactly like the last game. Really, wtf.
I see you're a Muse fan Fallout 4 looks nice in some areas and pretty generic in others. All depends on where you are.
MUSE! I used to be addicted to Muse, great music. I did have a Dom taped to my ceiling at one point, XD. Disappointments, eh? Easily Comcast's data caps, the death of Iwata (all the deaths for that matter), and probably lack of Half Life 3.
Well I never had high hopes for it, but I can see why the disappointment. Why have a watch if the screen if off until you summon it? This is the great thing about the Android Wear options (G Watch R personally), the screens are always on so you can use your watch as a, well, watch. Not to mention the square screen, bleh.
They were the last band I saw live. I was excited for THPS5, Yeah it was stupid, but I'm a stupid person.
Lacks a lot of action actually.. Gameplay seems oh so slow. A friend of mine was playing it and I nearly fell asleep, the soft music didn't help either.
Fallout 4. While I did beat it an generally enjoyed it, its such a small step forward it a few areas and big steps back in alot of others. Unlike Fallout 4 and Vegas which had a long life on my hdd, I already deleted Fallout 4 after a few hours on a second character. I just couldn't stomach any more.
5, if you count Peace Walker (which you should since 5 plays just like it). It's was absolutely not finished. I'm almost done with the whole thing, and the story is too nonsensical at the end (which is a Kojima trademark, granted). They just pushed it out the door instead of actually finishing it. It is also preachy, much more so than previous entries in my opinion, and I found what he was trying to say to be quite offensive and backward thinking. Then you have the whole forced online thing, where literally 90% of your resources are online and available for others to steal. Oh, but you can buy insurance with real money. I'd like to know how that is even remotely legal. Abandoning David Hayter as the voice of Snake and barely letting Keifer Sutherland even talk was just sad. There is actually a James Bond-esque scene late in the game where the main villain explains what he is doing and why. That scene is about 15 minutes long and Snake doesn't say a single word at all. It's really disappointing, as I liked the Peace Walker style of gameplay, even though it completely loses the Metroidvania style of the earlier games. Going back to the main topic: Konami. Period. See above + Silent Hills.
Persona 5 being delayed into next year MKX being repeatedly delayed/cancelled for last-gen Smart balance boards/segways being adopted as "hoverboards".
