Bills Tomato Game MegaDrive Version: Have Cart - Unreleased? - On eBay

*EDIT* Now on eBay! : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=280374345642 *EDIT*

    Hey everyone,

New user here and I have literally signed up to the site to seek some advice.

I managed to come across what I believe to be an unreleased title for the SEGA Mega Drive. It is on what appears to be a test cartridge from Psygnosis. After booting up you can see the title screen says "Bill's Tomato Game" and as far as I can find on the net this game was never released on the Mega Drive, only the Amiga.

However beyond these facts I really couldn't find any more information about the game, it seems either no one has another copy or no one cares about it. :)

Anyway I was pointed this way and to another couple of forums to seek advice. I will be honest, I am not a collector and only realised the potential value of this game due to the fact I work in the industry. I would rather the game go to a real collector so it will probably end up on eBay or the like. However i wanted to find out as much as I could first.
It was originally on eBay under my fathers account hence the pictures with the eBay watermark however I plan to take some better ones along with some videos if people would like. (It has since been taken off eBay btw)

So yea if you have any info or could point me in the direction of someone who may have that would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,

    - spikedog

It was developed by Tempest Software, who also made Res-Q, another unreleased Megadrive game which was to be published by Pysgnosis. Bill Pullan owned Tempest, and he made Bills Tomato Game for the Amiga originally, obviously named after himself. I have previously been in contact with Pete featherstone, he was part of Tempest (which was just three people at the time, the third member being Jason Backhouse), and had done the majority of the coding work on Res-q. Pete had contacted me requesting a cartridge of Resq, theres a rom of the game online, and I had been making the occasional Megadrive cart for Megadrive fans. I have Pete's address, which I can give you through PM if you want it. I was talking to him through PM's on the Sega-16 site, but as he hadn't made any posts on their forum his account is now unavaliable. I had asked him if they developed any other megadrive games than ResQ, and Bills Tomato Game was the only other one, and they no longer have the code or any cartridge of it, it was all lost.

If you have decided that you want to sell it, I would definitly be interested in aquiring it so I could 'dump' the game in ROM form and make it avaliable.

I always seem to be skint when something I really want appears :(

I hope whoever acquires this dumps it, or even makes repros so I can buy a copy :)

You don't have enough posts to sell this here. Put it on ebay?

Has anyone else ever noticed the disproportionate number of video games starring tomatoes? Besides this, I also count:

    - Kwirk
    - Air Foot
    - Princess Tomato
    - Tomato Adventure

I'm sure there are more too.

That's the same as Air Foot ;-) Now I'll have to check my copy and see what the "official" name is.

    Hey everyone,

So thanks for the kind words and thanks to everyone that has contacted me. I have decided the only fair way to sell this game is to put it on eBay as I originally thought, so I have put up an auction here:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=280374345642

For those of you that are just interested in the game I have taken some better pictures:

and I have a short gameplay video here:

Before I sell it if anyone would like me to take other videos just let me know.

Agreed. I have to say, without getting into the old, stale "to dump or not to dump" argument that I'm very disappointed.
