In case people missed it a while ago. Here's some old gameplay from an unreleased beta of the original Biohazard. Over an hour of footage!
It's a shame it wasn't copied back then by the magazine. But again, who would knew it would had become one of our most desired lost gems.. And as rarity goes, was it ever showed someplace else except that magazine? Or is it the first release from that build?
The build was shown in another magazine as can be seen in a scan from this thread (You can tell by the digital number font used for the inventory). Not exactly sure which mag this is. http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/info-about-resident-evil-1-5.16832/page-15 More than one reviewer actually got to play it, so you never know if a copy exists in some collection. There are certainly various BH builds that haven't even been talked about publicly, so as a completionist I like to be optimistic
I hope some fine morning, it could be unearth among old dusty and forgotten cds in a office, so it would be shared among the community. More than a few copies made it to various magazines and media,so its not unlikely to hit the light of the day. I wonder if anybody tried to contact with that Spanish magazine which was featured in, there is a possibility that somebody mighty still own it.
It should be something like the third or fourth alpha after the two sample builds we have, But this build has many rooms and appears much more functional so I went with beta.
Indeed it could be the correct term as beta is actually used mostly incorrect as an mostly unfinished product, but in fact, beta means an technically done product who is going over to the polishing phase.
Correct. It's somewhat of a shame that we don't really get to see the later areas. It's possible that in this iteration of the game, it was mostly a complete interior of the mansion, still being an alpha.
what we really need is this super early resident evil 4 in my choice *thinks he is getting a bit off topic*
Oh my Last time I played this was around 1996...but this looks very complete to me, except for the "You Died" or the "Title Screen". Anyway, thanks for sharing
I never finished RE4 (It's still in my backlog), but I know a lot of people would like to see something released. I only know of the Trial Edition. Maybe earlier versions would be telling of what was originally intended for RE1 as an FPS. No worries
Found some images in a magazine a little while ago with this same inventory screens, nice to have more of an idea of which release they were from. Thanks for sharing.
