I've essentially made a digital copy of the Biohazard/Resident Evil Sega Saturn pre-order bonus book as the version over on The Horror Is Alive has remained incomplete for quite some time.

I did read my Japanese copy of The True Story Behind Biohazard which contains Biohazard: The Beginning and compared it to the version featured within Resident Evil: The Book, out of personal preference I found the official English translation to be more interesting as the characters have a bit more personality in contrast to the initial version.

I'm currently redoing the last couple of chapters and will update this post once they're ready to go.

Biohazard: The Beginning is a short prequel novel that leads up to the first game. It was originally included as a pre-order bonus with Biohazard Sega Saturn within "The True Story Behind Biohazard" which also features the George Trevor Notes and the Biohazard Team Developer Interview. The original Japanese books were all individually numbered and the copy that I made the scans from is #074247, I do not know the highest number so far.

An official English translation was provided as a pre-order bonus for either Resident Evil Sega Saturn OR Resident Evil: Director's Cut OR Resident Evil: Director's Cut - Dual Shock Ver. in North America (I'm afraid I can't recall which one it came with as my husband had pre-ordered all of the RE games back in the 90s and can't recall either), this pre-order book bonus only included Biohazard: The Beginning and was localized as "Resident Evil: The Book" though there were a few slight differences, such as the English translation giving the characters a bit more personality.

Biohazard: The Beginning is essentially along the same lines as the S.D. Perry novels, there is a character - Billy that is shared between the two. Perry most likely had a copy of it as a general reference for her novels. Regardless, there are continuity clashes between it and the game so it should not be taken as canon into the storyline but it does serve as an additional reference for character personalities.

The George Trevor Notes have already been made available via The Horror Is Alive (which you can read here), I am unsure about the Developer Interview's translation status elsewhere as I have not checked and I currently have too many projects in general that I need to complete as I would otherwise translate it.

I do know that the short novel has not been fully completed digitally with the illustrations scanned in and cleaned properly at a higher resolution as the ones on THIA were slightly grey in order to keep the greytones of the original illustrations.

I have previously done manga scanlation (scanning, cleaning, editing, translation, typesetting, proof-reading and quality control) so cleaning up the illustrations and remaking the layout were particularly easy, however I preferred some of the original Japanese chapter names and went with them as the English chapter titles were kind of spoiling points within each chapter.

The only one I made a minor adjustment to was the last one to be titled as "S.T.A.R.S. Move Out" as "STARS Goes Into Action" read somewhat awkwardly to me and there were corrections to "STARS" to "S.T.A.R.S." and Umbrella Corporation and the like in it.

Additionally, the contents page featuring the map was not originally in the book - I had wanted to include it as a nod to Wesker pointing out the radius of corpses found in the lead up to the Mansion Incident and as I had already made the map of Raccoon (which can be seen fully here), I thought it might be a nice little additional nod to include it for the contents page, which will be updated to include the correct page numbers within the circles.

Hopefully this is of some help. :)
