I wont be doing this mod again until I have better tools for the job. Made a mess of it a job that could be done in half an hour took me over 3 hours

Agreed however it is rather easy to lift those components. I just made sure to get even better at putting them back on if I lifted them.

The problem is that people want to save a buck and overestimate their skill level just enough to cause a problem. Killing a Saturn puts you out $40 at least when the cost for a proper installation is a pittance by comparison. At least my rates sure are.

Yup, I'm not doing any more mods that involve removing IC's. Way out of my comfort zone

I see it all the time, and it really bugs me too. Not just with gaming hardware repairs either.

Do you know how much kitty litter it takes to clean up 6 litres of motor oil, because your idiot penny-pinching buddy didn't get any instructions on changing the oil filter? (Hint: if it's hard to screw on, it's probably cross-threaded, don't force it!!!)

    25KG of it.

Well, no freakin' idea what went wrong with my Saturn... Just installed the BIOS chip in my Dreamcast and it was a breeze!

I'd better tread smartly on Saturn, can't afford further mishaps. Major GC issue has delayed my plans (upside is that means I've saved more money).
