Well, as many of you know bioware had a hacker attack recently "ala Sony". The result? I no longer have an account with my serial numbers logged there for Neverwinter Nights and the expansions. No biggie, I have the serials at home too. But it got me thinking, what better way for software companies to fire old customers, free up server space and purge accounts they dont' want to manage anymore. It can simply be done by saying "hackers attacked and we had to clear your data for your safety, please make a new account and/or buy something new already". If this is the wave of the future, whats the point in registering anything? Registering seems like more trouble in the long run than its worth to the average consumer.
Yes, they just fired me, as a customer: http://playeraffinity.com/pc-news/bioware-and-sega-hacked.html http://www.1up.com/news/bioware-accounts-compromised-new-attack
