its like an offical swap disk. it allows you to play cdr games from when they were in development ( though it would probably work on any game) it provides the system with the needed security ring data and then let you swap for a game. Its like the System disc 2 for dc. You needn't mod your saturn to play.
    Hope that explains it

If the System Disc lets you run backups, then it isn't like the System Disc 2 because that will only let you run GD-R's used for development (not CD-R's).

This disc let's you run CD-r's of games from the same region as the saturn, soley CD-r's of games of the same region... it is a bit different from the System Disc 2 (although similar in regard to regions..)

This one only lets you boot the 3rd party titles. So no Sonic Extreme but you can use it to play my Albert Odyssey protofor example.

Not to bring this thread off-topic, but does anyone know the purpose of the "Blue" Saturn System Discs? I know a "Red" one exists as well, but I've only seen the other one once.

I've seen the red and I may have heard of the blue. My guess would be that one of the other two would be for internal sega development. THough I would not know what the other would be for. My other idea is that both discs are for internal development but in different parts of sega (one would be from SOJ the other from SOA or SOE) something like that but its just a guess.

Sorry for bring thread off topic

Red is a first party boot disc and I am pretty sure the blue is the same as red just harder to find. Could be wrong on the blue as its been along time.

Price lowered by the way.. I need this thing gone!

    Red-1st party
    Blue-1st party
    Black-3rd party

This disc runs fine on a US Saturn, and doesn't need an Action Replay to boot up, which defiantly isn't normal, but awesome and convient.
