Blue & Green Debug PS1s

    Here's a nice question I think. With PS model SCPH-10x series they made the PSU external with a 7.5volt DC power brick. Anyone have any idea how much trouble it would be to remove an old gray system's power supply and add a interface/power jack for a PSOne external PSU? I'm interested in that as I've read that in the older PS1's that have the CDROM (laser assembly) on the left side next to the power supply the heat it generates was part of the problem with earlier units dieing. So naturally if I could make the PSU external rather easily I would like to do that.
