Whys it in for a bad ride? As I understand it, the discs will play either bluray or hd-dvd on either side....its up to you?
I thought the total disc was a technology that would allow it to be read on either a HD-DVD or a Blue-Ray player I remember reading before, that both players lazers read at a different depth, as such, one could have a dual layer disc, one layer for HDDVD, and one for Blue-ray, whether or not this is true as i'm no DVD genius Ryan
They were held back on their release date, their release quantity and made the console cost about 100-150 more for that stupid blu-ray
But blu-ray = more space. If Blue Dragon is any indication, Games are going to get big this generation (Blue Dragon is 3 dvd9 big, imagin how big FF13 will be).
Yeap, but thanks to BluRay the price of the Ps3 is sky-high. I mean having multiple discs per game isn't that bad compared to the market penetration of a lower price-point.
Very true Barcode, I'm surprised Blue Dragon is 3 discs. However, if you look at games like Gears of War, it packs a full next gen game into one disc, so i think, at least for most "normal" games will fit nicely on a standard dvd. DVD's are a tried and tested format, which is also quite cheap. I've yet to talk to a single person who stressed that they needed a replacement for the DVD Ryan`
Oblivion, Haven't play GOW so i couldnt really comment on it Personally though, if I'm a consumer, and i see Blu-ray and HDVD, I'd be quite confused, hopefully this new medium will allow consumers not to worry about format, while both the formats wouldn't have to worry about competition too much Ryan
i saw bluray the other day and it had more artifacting than standard DVDs on a DENON scaler. there was nothing wrong with standard DVDs. Upscalers could have done miracles for this generation! but nooooo, they just had to >< rant off
I think alot of people aren't going to really care if it looks a bit sharper, I'm quite happy with what i have, and see no reason in upgrading just so i can see those wrinkles on someones face a little clearer Ryan
