Anyone want to by my old boat? Only owner, meticulously looked after ;-) All offers accepted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRtv56ffDG8
I remember watching this a while back. Shame it is such a short video - anyone know whether any other information exists about it? I know it's in the USA, but NO idea where. Can't make out the name of the boat. Also I loved the track used on this clip, shows real concern lol
Shit, reminds me of the dumbass semi driver who wedged his trailer (carrying a huge mining tool) under an overpass (the overpass being part of Interstate 90 East) and damaging 4 of the 5 support beams. Dumbass did this during repairs on I-90 E and caused the Wisconsin DOT to have to do emergency repairs (and sadly only took ~2 weeks from bid finalization to repair finalization, most of it fabricating the beams). What's sad is that there's other times where semi drivers wedge their trailers under the overpass, usually results in having to deflate the tires. I'm guessing in all these cases, they thought they could fit under there.
ummm......when were you in Canada, VA?..... If i remember correctly, the bridge was closed for about a year after that, and the ship itself sat tied up just down river where it wrecked for the longest time, It was quite the tourist attraction in Welland. Then, last i saw of it, they took the gutted hull out down near a steel factory, where it sat tied up until a storm blew in, and caused the empty hull to float away and beach itself on a near by shoal. Last i heard, they chopped the rear end off it, and turned it into a Great Lakes Barge.... Edit.....I have some photo's of it somewhere, I'll see if i can dig 'em up when i get back.......
Technically, the bridge hit the boat. It looks like one of those passable bridges where they raise the center portion like an elevator. You can see the bridge actually moving down at the beginning, getting hit, and then moving up as if someone realized they hit the wrong button.
That has got to be one of the unluckiest of ships ever to have been built! Any further disasters befell it? "It was scrapped and made into razor blades. One fateful day the Captain that piloted the ship into the bridge was shaving when he slipped on some soap and cut his throat open with the same said razor blades....I tell thee, it was true!" <Read in pirate voice>
That reminds me of several dutch tankers that got stuck across a river a few times in the UK. They were trying to turn the ship Austin Powers style and got wedged in
