This thread is dedicated to our beloved Bomberman, one of the oldest longtime videogames francises that never got old despite releasing so many games for most famous consoles and formats with its hero White Bomber (or Shirobon in Japan) became an icon of videogame industry along with other famous characters like Mario, Pac-Man, Megaman etc. and he also became an icon of japanese pop culture (since Hudson's influence in japanese audience was bigger). Its simple yet addicting gameplay formula got popular in both casual and hardcore audience and it's still one of the most popular choices for party games since anyone can pick and play it and in latest consoles they can play till 8 players at the same time in the same console. Unfortunately with Hudson being absorbed by Konami the future of White Bomber is unknown and maybe Konami will focus on mobile phones only since no new Bomberman has been announced for consoles like 3DS, a treatment similar to Megaman francise from Capcom. So let's talk at this thread about anything related to Bomberman: when it was your first contact with Bomberman francise, which is your favourite Bomberman game, post interesting videos, articles and trivia and so on. My first touch with Bomberman francise was with Wario Blast featuring Bomberman. Few years laters I played Neo Bomberman in NeoGeo emulator (which is one of my favourite Bomberman games) and Atomic Bomberman for PC (with which I have spent many hours playing versus my little brother and my cousin). But it was few years ago when I start appreciating the Bomberman francise and became a big fan by starting with Bomberman Land Touch for DS (in which I was mainly playing the Battle Mode versus CPU or players from all over the world via Wi-Fi or with my friend locally requiring only one cartidge of this game). By the way can you recomment me any interesting article(s) about Bomberman francise?
never been a huge bomberman fan (no reason just one of them games thats sort of passed me by) but i have been playing it on my NeoGeo cab recently and have started to see the appeal, i imagine the basic gameplay is the same over all versions?
Saturn bomberman is the best version. Uses the high res mode too - loads of space for 10 people, its quite crazy (but awesome)
Will have to check it out, dont think my saturn has been turned on since i chipped it, will give me an excuse to dust it off
Pretty much all I use mine for these days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cXy2CAPemw Skip to 5 minutes in
I will have to check it too I have Bomberman and Bomberman '94 on PC Engine and the Bomberman LIve on the 360. I have fond memories of Bomberman on the SFC as well, long hours playing with friends
I need the 2 multi taps 6 more controllers and 9 friends to fully enjoy Saturn bomber man Sadly all my friends are scattered across the globe
It's always a blast to play Saturn Bomberman locally with friends. I actually have bought at first a Saturn to play Bomberman (and Death Tank Zwei).
Saturn Bomberman is definitely the best, but the 10-player stage isn't exactly my favorite in the game - far too bland and featureless, and you can play the other stages with a maximum of 8 players too. The PCE versions are good, with 5-player mode IIRC. It really is lame that Bomberman on XBLA doesn't support over 8 players.
Not only are they scattered all over the world they also have different consoles, Friend in the UK has a PS3, others wouldn't even play bomberman unless in person with others or they're just family people who barely game anymore unless I invite them to. Others still are just strictly old school and aren't current gen. How are the other Bomberman games (game?) on Saturn? By the way No body mentioned the great potpurri that is Bomberman Land 2. That has a bit of Everything Even the Kart racing part of the game while simple is pretty fun.
Saturn Bomberman Fight!! isn't any good IMO. The isometric camera makes it way too hard to follow, and the amount of features doesn't compare to Saturn Bomberman: it's 4 player max, although to be fair it'd probably be even more confusing with more players. I know at least one person in here likes it though... Bomberman Wars I have no clue about, since it's a Japan-only strategy game.
