Greetings, Name is Ryan (shocking). Been lurking here for a while, decided to finally sign up. I've been getting into console collecting lately since I seem to hate money. I've also started to become interested in doing console modifications and this seems like the place to be. Like a do-it-yourself Xanadu. And as a stereotypical Canadian, I am a hockey fan. Go Senators.
Beaten twice by Scott Darling. It's been a rough year. This marks the first and only mention of Scott Darling on this forum.
Video and sound enhancement mods, mostly. I was interested in the NES extra audio channel mod but ended up buying a pre-AV modded Famicom and disk system instead. I'm new to soldering but a quick learner. I just ordered some GameCube modchips to toy with. Recently I've started to experiment with painting hardware. Been practicing on NES controllers because they're super cheap. I've been collecting consoles lately, trying to get one of everything. When I get doubles, I want to experiment. I've got a Genesis model 1 that has some vertical line red distortion that I wouldn't mind doing some tinkering on. As for the forum itself, my main goal is to not be a dick and not look down on people (see: not being a dick).
I would practice soldering on something other than a Gamecube for your first try, try on dead boards or something. The Gamecube's vias will tear out VERY easily compared to other consoles.
I guess I know what I'm doing with my spare model-1 Genesis! Any beginner-ish mod suggestions for one of those?
