Apparently the boiler of a small spa in Shouto (about 1km from my house, actually) exploded. I can hear helicoptors circling now. Pictures are on the news. It is basically down to the frame, with fragments of building all over the ground. Link w/ no pictures.
Fuck! Must have been quite a shock for you too! I can just imagine the sound of the explosion. 4 people wounded they say.
There was an explosion near where I live around summer 2002, a gunpowder repository it was like 15 km away, but it shot me off the bed with the noise it made - it was like 6 am when it happened. That was a shocker!!
Link w/ pictures 2 Dead thus far. Remember, this is basically a spa sitting in a neighborhood. There were houses/apartments right next to it that got their windows blown in, and shit all over the roof. Fire trucks couldn't even get there b/c the roads are too narrow and have debris in the way. If a huge earthquake happens, it is every man for himself.
Yeah, I'd hate to live in Tokyo when the big one does come. Japanese are so stupid for cramming things in to every posible space. Welcome to the land of crap design and planning  Same down here. We have shit loads of space but they still build a house right on top of another ! Yakumo
Haha... yeah, that's the crazy shit. You might get a bigger home if you move out of the city. You will still not have a yard, and your next door neighbors can hear you fuck if you're not quiet. If you have a sideways Earthquake, the on top of each other buildings aren't bad. Hard for one building to knock over another one. For a vertical earthquake where the roof caves in... yeah, it's going to get ugly. I have a bicycle to get around town if I need to. We also live very close to our hinanjou, assuming we make it there in one piece.
