Old news, and hardly innovative (The MS Sidewinder is around 8 years older and already has the handles at an ergonomic angle (around 30º).) - more pointing out flaws on the DualShock design than showcasing the new pad.

Also, doesn't the boomerang look a bit bigger than in the display photo someone posted a few weeks ago?

pushing the sticks up while your hands are in that angle is sure gonna be weird and hard for people with small hands.

  5. Yawn, why try to re-invent the wheel when it already works? (no pun intended)

What about those of us with large hands? I feel like I could snap that thing like a twig.

Did Sony made that animation? It's not very smart. Apart from racing and FPS (dual analog) and arcade (dpad and front buttons) you rarely hold the pad symmetrically, for most games you use the left analog stick and the front buttons X, O, /\, [] plus shoulder buttons. they should've exchanged the dpad for the left analog vice-versa.

I have seen people do that.

But to me the ps3amarang reminds me of a rubber dildo bend out of shape. Perhaps the ladies would love it.
Sorry for my very sick and corny humour.
I just crack myself up at times.

Well, as long as it has the "force feedback" built in... Ok, at least I wasn't the only one who thought that.

Seriously though, has any information come out regarding how Sony tested this controller configuration? I consider myself a UI/input specialist, and I honestly cannot see how people would be receptive to this shape, size and particularly the angled buttons.

If I wanted a steering wheel controller, I'll buy one. This thing still looks uncomfortable.

ProgrammingAce == Carpal Tunnel. Carpal Tunnel != PS3 controller.

The whole reason i never bought a dreamcast is because the controller bends my hands at funny angles. The Dual shock controller is bad enough, but if this is the final version of the PS3 controller then i won't buy one.

Look at how much that guy has to bend his thumbs to reach the analog sticks. Batman called, he want's his baterang back.

The PSX controller huts the palms of my hands and I see this banana doing the same if I ever used it.

What??? You... playing Playstation !!!??? :noooo:

I guess the new shape of the controller will facilitate its use as a vibrator. More importantly as a boomerang it'll fly better around your room when you're angry about loosing or when the hardware fails :banghead: which is likely to happen every so often in the great Sony tradition.

In the end change is not a bad thing...

didn't MS fix their love affair of offset buttons when they made the S controller? On the duke the A,B,X,Y buttons weren't straight up and down, which they later changed and it's still like that on the 360 controller.

    Sony may learn eventually...
