Hi, Is it possible to run homebrew .elf files on a TEST PS2 using a PSX as a bootable source? I have attempted to do this without any luck, i don't see what would be different from a retail unit. Thanks
The bios in the TEST PS2 is different from the retail BIOS. Like it doesn't have a dvd player for a start, it could be that the TEST PS2 doesn't have the same vunerability as the retail PS2. The vunerability comes from the ability to install additional patches on a memory card, to get PSX games to run, which weren't included in the BIOS. This could easily not have been deemed useful on a TEST PS2 or may not have even been finished at the time that BIOS was released. smf
The PSX vulnerability won't work on slimline ps2, but it does work on the fat ones like my dtl-h30102.
hmmm... I seem to be doing something incorrectly. I will give it another try. I have a 5 series btw. Thanks
Hi, Yes it, still seem to be having a problem. I can get them to work with a friends modded slim but no joy with my TEST.
did you setup correctly the ps1drv exploit(some ps1 games don't work well with that) or are you trying to run homebrew burned on cd-r?
What ps1 game are you using? The only definitive way to know if your model can do the ps1 exploit is to dump its bios...
You have to run a .elf on the ps2 through inlink/ps2link wich will dump the bios either directly to your computer through ethernet(you need the ethernet adaptor for the first method) or on an empty ps2 memory card(it may be possible to run this one from a CD but I haven't tested). I can give you the version of inlink/ps2link I used, you may find more informations on the http://www.pcsx2.net forums.
You can find ps2link here http://xorloser.com, you'll need to patch the iso with master disc patcher from the same website. Inlink can be found here: http://ps2dev.org/ps2/Loaders The different dumpbios.elf(to dump through ethernet, on the memory card or on an usb device)are on the http://www.pcsx2.net website and forum
