Does anyone have any info on this Gameboy? At first I thought somebody had painted a crappy logo on it, but it does not have the regular Gameboy logo under the left side of the screen, the back reads DMG-01 1989 Nintendo. Made in China It had a Nintendo logo on the bottom left under the D-pad, but that flaked off easily. I checked google images but can't find anything.
It does look like a coloured Game Boy with a weird logo, if the screws on the back are twiwing screws then it's is probably an original.
I thought about that, but it does not look discolored where the logo should be, BTW it does have tri-wing screws. The plastic is not as crappy as my camera made it look, I took that pic very close with flash. Does anyone have a Play it loud black Gameboy? I wonder if they have 1989 on the back as well, since they came out in 95 from what I've read online...
The gameboy in your picture looks very familiar to me, I really think Ive seen one before. Dont remember when or where though. A google search for "play it load gameboy" shows a few original gameboys with backlights. Did some of the original gameboys have backlighting?
The rough textured plastic and form look exactly like a real Game Boy. This one appears to be painted black. Is it painted or was the plastic dyed? As far as I know, the only Game Boys with backlighting are the Game Boy Light and Game Boy Advance SP.
Yeah its what I thought too. But after further investigating, turns out the "play it loud gameboys" are just the later ones available in colors. I have the red one
I noticed it but I am not a 14 year old that giggles insanely at words like dick and penis, funny how GoH made a point of it
But here's the question did they make a GAY BOY COLOURED? or a GAY BOY advance? or were you just stuck with a Black Gay BOY? ;-)
Notice how the buttons are GREY: Also: if you pay atention, you can see the CE-approved logo on the back (yours has a German TUV). Also, for reference: yours is a Model DMG-01, made in China, the one on the pic below says DMG-01, Japan. Not sure if the same model would be made elsewhere?
@ Shinebi I noticed the TUV mark, but 2 of my gray Gameboy units purchased in the US have the same mark also so I didn't think much of it... What year does your unit show in the back? can't make it out in the pics. Also the buttons are a dark gray, the purple font looks darker then the black Gameboy in your pics. I opened it up an it is official, the boards have Nintendo markings on them. I scraped off the remaning paint with my nail and it all crumbled off, no indentation where the regular Gameboy print should be but there is an indentation where the crummy large font Gameboy text was...
I'm sorry, I just posted these from a Google search. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=black%20Gameboy&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=906l3859l0l4250l13l12l0l0l0l0l375l2189l0.3.4.2l9l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1280&bih=852&wrapid=tlif131789863993111&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi (3rd row from the bottom up) But as you can see, the logos are all different, and from both 'regular' versions I had, I've never seen them come off... ALSO, what's with the screen's frame, it's been removed?
