Looks like the Chinese are at it again. Plays SNES / MD NES/ FAMI GBA/ GBC /GB Thing is for $57 you could probably find a used psp fat. Link below is a referral link http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.24819~r.79225448
They are annoying bastards aren't they. The worst thing is they try to deny that pretty much everything they produce is a cheap ass low quality copy or a rip off. A few weeks back the Chinese had one of their first real motor shows where Chinese car manufactures showed off their "Original" cars. One was a pure rip off of the Roles Royce Phantom. Another car was a rip off of a Mazda sports coupe complete with Mazda looking logo. I mean, how f*cking pathetic can you get when you make items that are 100% ripped off and still deny it. I wouldn't be so pissed off if they said, "yeah it's a copy but isn't it great". No, they insist their items are original. Yakumo letting out a rant.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chery_Automobile#Design_Copy_Controversy Letting China into the WTO was one of the worst ideas ever conceived. They get all the benefits to destroy us and still thumb their nose. It is like giving a loaded gun to someone that wants to shoot you.
Ding! Somebody else finally gets it. All of my friends look at me weird when I rant about how China wants to eat us alive, telling me, "They need us, we're their consumers, they can't kill us, they need to sell to us." Yeah...while they build their economy on all of our ideas and technology...and build their economy on manufacturing everything at a slightly cheaper price and eat our middle class alive as their jobs go overseas.
China will eat us alive eventually. It's a shame we can't make knock-offs of their products, because they're all knock-offs in the first place. How many PODi, iPad, PSPs and GBs from China have I seen? A gazillion? Probably. Were they crap? Most of them were, but guess what ... People still buy it. I'm actually kind of fine with them making hardware that plays oldschool games, as long as it's not all emulation, but NOAC types of solution. They could however start working on their own designs for handhelds. Is there anyone who would actually buy this thinking it's a real PSP? Same with those DS knock-offs, which were nothing more than LCD games, and they didn't even work.
The firmware in that clone (from what I could see in that pic) looks pretty similar to the one in my chinese PMP (Portable Media Player), and it's not only a piece of junk, it also gets corrupted and starts failing in a matter of months (probably due to the crappy internal flash memory). All PMPs I've seen use emulation to handle old games, I don't think they would spend in another chip when the processor is powerful enough to run an emulator (a 210MHz ARM if I remember correctly)... NES emulation is quite decent (sound is not that good, thought), you get playable speeds in all the games and it handles almost all commercial NES mappers, so compatibility is not an issue. The big deal is Gameboy Color emulation, most platformers, RPGs and b/w GB games run fine, but some heavier CGB games (like some racing games) show some big slowdowns, making them impossible to play. Also the game saving function works perfectly in NES and GB/GBC games. At least in places like here people buy these knockoffs knowing they're not real consoles, the thing is that the cheapest used PSP you can get is over USD200 and new units are over USD250, and PMPs are a cheaper option for 75/80 bucks, often bought for casual gamers or people who want a cheap audio/video player with a big screen and decent storage capacity.
They could atleast have the picture of the real machine on the cover, not an official PSP picture. The menu system is misleading, even if you know that it's a knockoff. EDIT: Ooh, and a Vista skin as OS.
Man, it even has a PSP logo on it. These guys have no shame. Speaking of Chinese and their ability to out manufacture every other country on Earth, the way you compete with that is by keeping your quality standards high, and specialize what you manufacture. They may make the components for our computers, but the computers are designed and programmed here. Another way to look at it - they make cheap pieces of junk? You make high quality stuff. You will sell less, but the items you do sell will sell for a higher price and better profit margin. Say a company like Ferrari, caters to a specific market, and there's no way a cheap piece of shit can compete with them. Let the Chinese have the crappy market, make your stuff so it counts and people will always go to you. At the same time, don't you yourself trade with China until they clean up their environmental laws and start paying their people a decent wage. True you can't get away from buying Chinese goods 99% of the time, but if enough people make a conscious decision to not support them maybe the local company that does might get the hint and get their stuff made elsewhere (Mexico, for instance... like that's any better though.) Sad fact is though they are the manufacturing base for the World now, there's no way around it.
Yep they are and they dont just churn out crap either. As you point out most computers are made there. Even high quality ones like macs that we pay a premium for. The pure fact is we decided to exploit the market there and its backfired. Though blaming them for the job loss or blaming india for call centers is just total crap. These people are giving up their life to survive and support their kids. To give them better education and a better life. I just want to see whats going to happen when China and India start to think like us and decide they want higher wages, better working and living conditions, more quality time, maternity leave, and so on. Once the children of the people who are making our shoes, clothes, pc's and so on grow up with the education and aspirations that their hard working parents have given them by all they are giving up like any sort of family life with their kids. They arent going to want to be the worlds cheapest factory anymore. Whats going to happen when they decide to stop. Just think of how much we rely on them for. Just think of a few of the biggest indian call centers going on strike or one of the many companies out there who process our pay slips.
