Around this time last month I went on eBay and found a "genuine" Wii remote plus and nunchuck combo for $30 each + $5 shipping. I had assumed that since this guy was selling them so cheap he was probably trying to start up an eBay store and wanted to spike up his feedback. I bought two of them and when they arrived I found they were both fake. As you could expect I was fucking pissed off and gave him negative feedback and made a PayPal dispute. The seller sent me a message saying that just because the item is not Nintendo brand it is still genuine. How you can have one and not the other is well beyond me. He offered me a refund if I returned the item and asked me to retract my feedback. I was not prepared to pay return postage so I told the seller if he covers the cost I'll retract my feedback and he refused. I escalated the dispute into a claim and PayPal made me get a document from an unbiased third party which explained why they were fake. I went to a local GAME store and the staff there inspected the remote and sent me an email saying it's definitely fake. I print screened the email and uploaded it to PayPal and they have said it is not an acceptable third party documentation. They say I need to get an "authenticity document". The dispute ends tomorrow and I know its too late to get my money back. Now I just want to know what I should have done when the remotes first arrived. And I also want to know what the fuck is an authenticity document.
Chargeback instantly and then go to GAME, by then within a few days youd've known it was fake and that this valuation wasn't "acceptable" and seeked one from elsewhere. I figure an authenticity document comes from a licensed nintendo repair centre or s/t. I'd also just like to add I haven't found eBay that bad yet. Stand clear from eBay for *GENUINE* stuff for systems, unless it's an actual eBay store and not from Hong Kong or China. Those fake remotes die within 2 weeks anyway... It's $35 and it's not worth the stress... Sadly it happened and you'll have to be extra careful next time.
