I have a Boxed SNES. Box and inserts are in ok condition but console is yellowed. Do you think it is worth more if I replace it with a nice grey one or keep the serials matching.

I wouldn't worry about the serials matching for such a common item unless we are talking about a very early serial number.
You could always clean the console up (retrobright or the like) to keep them matching if it really meant that much to you.

This is what I thought, too. Unless it is a very special one, it will sell better with a nice grey console.
I have yet to get good results with retro bright. SNES end up more white than grey and the color is not super uniform.
Still an improvement over piss yellow though.

You need to post a validation photo for a price check (check the sticky) ;)

What serials match? There is a serial number printed on the box of a SNES?! Wasn't the case here.

I had not included a picture as this was a general question and not regarding a particular item. Sorry if I asked it in the wrong sub section. It can be locked if it is not proper.
I asked myself that question after I looked at an ebay auction making this a point, and it has a picture of the serial on the box and on the console.

I somehow assumed this could apply to any boxed snes but after reading your message I checked a few boxes and it seems they do not have that sticker on the box. Maybe it only applies to some batches? Or it is somehow related for service warranty?

Interesting. It might have been exclusive to some of those limited edition consoles, perhaps. I never saw that in the UK. As it says, it's the proof of purchase. Why you'd put your proof of purchase on a box is beyond me! Maybe they expect you to prove you have the right box for the machine? It seems to be a genuine Nintendo sticker, not done by the store.

Personally, I'd rather have the right console for the box - especially paying that sort of money! ;)

The ''Problem'' Is that the earlier snes are pretty much all yellowed. Unlike some other consoles those SNES do not need the sun to yellow. They yellow uniformly inside out. This makes it hard to have an early revision motherboard in an original non yellowed case. Of course you can just swap the case but then the serial would be period incorrect for the motherboard.
This probably does not bother most amateur collectors though. I mean, unless you buy something that is supposed to be brand new or never used and pay a serious price for it, as long as you have a complete kit I think most would rather have the items in good condition rather than every item being the exact one that came with the box originally.

I disagree. If it's an early machine and the box has a matching serial, most serious collectors would want the correct machine.

If it's a rare set, I don't see the yellowing as an issue. As a collector, I'd probably buy such a set to put on the shelf, boxed - not as my main console.
