Hi All, I've finally found something that I have no idea how much to pay for. I knew my parents' nextdoor neighbours had a Vectrex, and have been trying to get it off them for ages. Now that they're moving house, they just gave it to my parents and thus it got transferred onto me. Now, I want to pay him the fair and reasonable price for it, as we've known them for years and I can't rip him off. Trouble is, I've never seen a Vectrex system IN BOX for sale anywhere, and I don't know how much to give him. I haven't looked too closely at what I got with it (only looked at it briefly before work this morning), but this is what I believe is there: - 1 Vectrex system, in box with bottom foam (missing top foam). Box is worn but in good condition. Plus I've never seen a Vectrex system box before. - 2 boxed games, excellent condition. Didn't check for overlays but I assume that they're in there. Anyone want to give me a rough idea on how much to pay for this? (I'm Australian, it's an Australian release system btw)
100 dollars and up. give him a hundred bucks and don't look back. in these kind of situations, even though you get it for relatively cheap, you're being generous - most people in your neighbour's situation end up flogging stuff like this for 10 - 20 dollars.
In the UK it'd be about £100-150. The loose consoles were once around £100, but prices have dropped.
Thanks for the help guys.. For the boxed console and overlay, two boxed games with overlays I ended up giving him $200Aus. Technically I could have got away with $150, but I'd rather give him the maximum because he's great friends with my parents. I love the Vectrex. Nothing better than the large black monolith sitting amongst all your other consoles..
