Saw this posted over at Dreamcast history. This place sells some really dodgy pirate SNES games. Just check out Golden Eye for the SNES. The Title Screen clearly says James Bond Jr. then look again at the Golden Eye box and you'll notice a small section saying "James Bond Jr in" Golden Eye :smt043 They also have Solu Blade for the SNES. I'd love to see a Rom of this one going. http://www.gamesbrazil.com/super_nes.htm Yakumo
That's a cool site, Yakumo! :smt023 By the way you know that all these stuff are made in Hong Kong right? It just gets here, through Paraguay. Anyway, lately the only bootlegs i have seen are famicom ones. I don't see Snes/Sfamicon and Genesis/Megadrive pirate cars for ages.
2 years ago I saw some of pir8 snes games here, Pikachu and Sonic. were the ones that caught my attention. I also saw that Super Mario and Pocahontas for Mega/Genesis.
Sorry to revive this long dead thread(I was googling these things and this came up) but I saw at this retro game store in my local mall a game, that was apparently from brazil, that was for the SNES and it had no screws, no nintendo in that spot on the back, it was a cheaply made sticker version of the Japanese version of Home Alone, and the person thried to pry it open(it broke) and there were no ROM chips(or any for that matter) just the contacts.
There would have been glop-top chips, no doubt. Most pirate carts use them. (This must've been one of the first threads here, by the way.)
You mean just little things that looks like blobs of tar? Yeah it had 2, but it was funny looking at the board, it was like, the contacts and then less than an inch of board(veritcally, not counting pins) and the blobs, there were even places to puy more things on the board too.
Like I say, 99% of pirate carts look like that. Tiny PCB to keep costs as low as possible, glop-tops for the same reason. Extra space for more chips means the PCB is a generic design, built to be used on many games. Cheaper to do one very large run of generic PCBs than multiple smaller runs of a unique design per game. The presence of glop-tops doesn't necessarily mean it's a pirate cart, mind - someone around here pointed out recently that early (legit) Starfox boards have them.
I'm pretty sure it's a pirate, the guy working there said the guy who brought it in said it was from Brazil
I have played this rom, can we name the players from left to right.... Bebeto, Romario, Rai (maybe?)....dunno (playing for Gremio?), dunno (playing for Flemengo?).
No. That's Bebeto, Romario, Túlio Maravilha (1995 Brazilian champion with Botafogo! ), Paulo Nunes (Grêmio) and Renato Gaúcho (Fluminense)
That reminds me, I've got a Famicom pirate multicart with some kinda Brazilian version of Nintendo's Soccer, based on the '98 world cup IIRC.
Some rumor speak of a Pirate version of Magicien Lord II for the NeoGeo CD in Brazil Have you ever see something on it ?
